It's like I replied to oozkan - we may not be directly signing players who've been involved, but it delays the domino effect down the pyramid
I was one of the first ones in this forum mentioned that transfers will be late, globally due to two big tournaments, but I didn't mean August. At this point, most of the teams already passed 5-6 transfers mark, we are still standing at 2 senior players if you remove returning loanees. Moreover we lost 10-11 squad player, some of them was first 11.

And all of a sudden, people can start see why our deals have been kept quiet. Because we've had to keep our interest on him quiet due to bigger clubs like Palace and Brentford wanting him and you can see how talented the lad is.

You think it gets done ST? At the price quoted I would've thought a few clubs be in for him

Surely his agent will be talking to all currently interested parties? I thought keeping stuff quiet was more about not broadening the field any wider.

This pre-season isn't significantly slower than most for us. Cards will fall when they fall. It's not in our control. We just have to play the strongest hand possible when they do.

I think it does, yeah. He's spent the last year in League One so that has put off a few Premier League clubs, plus he only broke through in the last couple of years. Compare that to Ronnie Edwards who had a season in the Championship before dropping down to League One.

The sticking point will be what Wigan ask for him as he's contracted there until 2028 and it's his hometown club. But, like we saw with Greaves, if the player wants to come (and all signs suggest he does), then it shouldn't be a problem. I wondered if Alfie Taylor or Andy Smith might be going in the opposite direction as a sweetener.

It is, but what tends to happen once one club makes a move is that it forces the hand of others. We saw what happened as soon as Ipswich bid for Philogene. By keeping it quiet, you hope to avoid that happening.

Isn't that the same thing? Hughes was also in the Championship before dropping to League One.

He’s a much more well rounded player than Edwards. Miles better defender and equally good on the ball

They won’t get more than £5m they’re hardly loaded and he will push for the move, he could’ve left for nowt last summer but stayed for their benefit to get them a fee
