Some seem so keen to eliminate any debate/discussion about our transfer business just because it's done and can't be changed. If so we'd never discuss the result of a match! It's a transfer thread and we haven't signed anyone. I don't think anyone should be too wound up if people want to debate/discuss our only noteable outgoing.
I got a rather cryptic but encouraging message yesterday (I cba correcting the grammar but I’ve copied the main bit). “Trust me what’s coming in is going to be way better than anything we have now. First one should be announced first wk of July with another aimed at being shortly after, isn’t mind-blowinh [sic] but you’ll still see an improvement. OT going free up the ££ and broadens the market we can shop in.” Could be copium on their part because they know I don’t know who exactly they are referring to, but they usually inform me of transfers about two weeks before they’re announced. Other stuff we chatted about: Nothing formally agreed on Greaves yet, clubs haven’t met his valuation but he’s eager to go to the Premier League and interest from Everton, West Ham, Wolves, Ajax, Standard Liege and Fenerbahce. Interest in Norwood and Zajc confirmed. In preliminary talks with a German striker and fullback. Wouldn’t say who or where, but did say that German clubs overvalue their players and convincing them to come over here would be difficult given our club size. Will take some doing. Sheff Weds beat us to Max Lowe. Ingram happy to spend pre season here to impress TW. TLT and Cartwright will also be assessed. Cartwright had interest from a League Two club on loan. Nothing on Oscar. “Dunno lol? Bit embarrassing.” Hmmm. As I suspected, Celi questioned by TW, asked why he hasn’t been brought here to be looked at and his loan in Peru moved elsewhere. Sheffield United tentative interest in Slater. Nothing serious in terms of movement on Philogene. Sincere Hall to feature in pre season due to better than expected development, Jarvis to be watched but will probably finish out his loan. Club have been in contact with Doncaster regarding our U21s after seeing how well Lo-Tutala developed. Nothing official, but could see the likes of Alfie Taylor, Stan Ashbee and Henry Sandat given a taste of EFL football. So it sounds like stuff is going on, usually they are a miserable sod so the fact that they are optimistic leads me to feel likewise. While simultaneously suspicious.
I def think we need a bit of an impressive singing just to show what level we intend to work at next season. Slater going to Sheff Utd would be a blow.
Re the fee for Ozan.... I dont think anyone knows the fee... but reading different reports it is said in Turkey that the fee is between 2 and 4 million euro, with the likelyhood that the figure will be somewhere toward the middle. I think there may be more to the deal. As someone highlighted really well an few pages back, maybe the add ons and reduction in the future sale percentage of Omur might have been part of the agreement. The time next year I think Omur will be Prem bound for 8 figures so that would make this a very good deal...
Trabzonspor is kind of broke, so they can't pay huge amount for Tufan. Since discussion is between Acun (Fenerbahce vice-president) and Trabzonspor president, I am sure money is not the only thing discussed there, if you remember eventful game this year, where Fenerbahce even considered to leave league, Acun was one of the leaders of that propaganda. For those unfamiliar, current budget limitations in Turkish League announced: Galatasaray 82 Fenerbahce 78 Trabzonspor 45,7 Besiktas 45 in British pound. This money includes entire staff, transfer fees, wages and other expenses like travel paid by clubs so I don't think Trabzonspor has so much space for a transfer fee.
I don’t think he actually will do, they’ve lost Norwood and it’s not what I would call a replacement if both were to happen. I’d take him as a replacement for Docherty, but not at the expense of Slater.
I would also add on the Celi front that the link up with Maribor might see him go there, doesn’t sound like the club are happy about his playing time.
Zajc is a great player at Championship level, Norwood if he were to come is an upgrade on Doc all day long.
Agreed on this, Zajc is not as bad as he looks in Fenerbahce, he was actually pretty good 2 years ago, last 2 years he and Fenerbahce did not get on well to be fair.
I don't think with what we, on here, know at the moment it's a good deal for us. He's a better player now than when we signed him for £4m, and we could have had him for 2 more seasons. We won't know of course until we see who comes in to replace him. If he was going to be second string then its a good deal, if we start the season with a team he'd walk into then it was a ****e deal TWT
Coming on here and spouting common sense, and doing it politely, sensibly and with well reasoned points... Bloody disgrace!
He managed 27 appearances in the Premier League last season, so his legs aren’t that far gone, he’s a good player.
Zajc gets gassed out after 15 minutes. Norwood is 33 and does the same thing as Seri, who is also 33 in less than a month’s time. If anything, we need youth and energy in this midfield.
