I'm less convinced that Larin will succeed in the PL than some of the other Canucks, but on a free (and with less likelihood that he'd need a massive signing bonus moving from Besiktas) he's a good bet to be useful. Different sort of forward than we have right now: strong in the air, good at working off the shoulder of defenders, fair amount of familiarity with pressing from the Canada setup.

He's also a good age at 27. Never mind though, we will probably not have any interest in him.

Do we have FFP problems regarding our wage bill? I saw on a rumour site that we are one of a number of clubs with a wage bill over 70% of turnover and it needs addressing urgently

Is that the rule? If so then we are in trouble as our squad isn’t really good enough with the current wage outlay and it would mean little room for improvement

We also don’t have a great deal of wiggle room apart from trying to get Walcott out and actually releasing Long - or a significant decrease if he gets one more year. Would make the rumours of a new Elyounoussi contract bizarre as I am sure he is on circa 60k and it is questionably whether he is delivering on that. A younger player on loan or permanent could be half that and it would be hard for them to only be 50% as effective

But are there really strict wage bill limits ?

I don't believe there to be a specific rule (correct me if wrong) but that is just an indication of an unhealthy ratio. So it does still need addressing.

I believe that report came out about a year ago and even then it was based off the previous years accounts. So the likes of Forster, Lemina, Hoedt, Bertrand, Gunn and Ings would have been included.

So the situation has likely already improved a little, hopefully if we shift Long, Walcott and Djenepo it'll help further.
