Aston Villa are close to agreeing a deal with Brentford for Ollie Watkins. The fee is an initial £28m which could rise to £33m with add-ons.

Great player, but that's a hell of a fee for a player with no top flight experience.
Neither had Jarrod though. How much do we reckon we got for him? Serious question - I've never been too sure.

Based on the figure above for Watkins,..... not enough.... Jarrod was a play maker/ goalscorer, Watkins a good poacher.... Jarrod has improved I think its fair to say since he left..

Is this bloke trying to fail!!!

Hull fish and chip shop serving halloumi dippers and fish 'mega box' is about to open
Whitehead's will start serving food from Thursday
James Campbell
A new fish and chip shop is opening up in north Hull and it will be good news for vegetarians.

Called Whitehead’s – but no connection to the one in Hornsea – the new takeaway will start serving up meals on Thursday in Cottingham Road, close to McDonald’s.

Owner Lee Whitehead says he has been looking to open a fish and chip shop for some time and has now taken over the former Fryer Tuck premises.

He said: “I have a love affair with fish and chips and I have been looking for a suitable place to open my own takeaway for two years.

“I have carried out a full renovation and I think it looks pretty cool.”

“At the moment it is just takeaway but we are hoping to do home delivery in the near future.”

Mr Whitehead has made the decision not to use traditional methods of frying the food to cater for vegetarians.

He said: “We fry our food in rapeseed oil so it is suitable for vegetarians.

“Most fish and chip shops still use beef dripping which is very tasty but there are a lot more vegetarians now.

“I only know of four or five places in Hull which do not use beef dripping. This means a significant number of people cannot have fish and chips.

“All our food is sourced locally, even the potatoes, and I’d like to thank Seasider Seafoods Hull which has kindly supported our new business and has donated 100 haddock."

Mr Whitehead believes his new chippy can offer something a bit different to other outlets in Hull.

“We have a wide-ranging menu", he said. "We offer fish fingers, which I have been told is unusual round here, and we also serve vegetarian sausages.

“We also serve halloumi dippers with sweet chilli sauce and pie and mash.

“We also have a kids’ menu and we serve the Molly’s Mega Box for £10."

While the business is a family affair, with both of Lee’s daughters Ellie and Molly working there, six local people all living within a mile of the takeaway have been employed.

Mr Whitehead said: “I am like a Cheshire cat right now. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time.”

Whitehead’s will open on Thursday and will be open seven days a week from 11.30am until 8pm.
Hmmm
Can I be arsed to go??!!

At last this thread is back on track :-)

Grant McCann remains hopeful there could yet be new arrivals before Saturday’s League One opener at Gillingham.

The Hull City boss has been busy strengthening his squad throughout the summer as he prepares for what he hopes will be an instant return to the Championship, but his work is not yet done.

McCann wants to add further attacking firepower to his ranks and says the club are working hard away from public glare to make things happen, with a midfielder also on his shopping list.

“Hopefully, touch wood, we can odd one or two more bodies because we’re still a bit light - I still think we’re two or three bodies short,” he told BBC Humberside.

“The quicker we can get them in, the better.

“I know they’re working very hard behind the scenes to make that happen.

“We need a couple of forwards, I think, to play in different positions.

“We need another midfield player to compete with what we’ve got.

“Max Sheaf and Callum (Jones) are two very good young players, don’t get me wrong, but we want to have competition in there.”

Hopefully this is bollocks. I’d rather play our own youth team players than make this kind of signing.

Does this not tell you everything.... we have more ****ing defenders than enough !!!!!.... we now want more .... and yet the one thing the first team cannot do which is to score or create chances is left unaddressed.....
