Hull City are interested in signing Celtic’s young centre forward Ciaran Diver, according to Football Insider.

A source at the club has told the website an approach has been made by the Tigers to the Scottish giants, with City looking to add a youthful striker to their ranks next season under Grant McCann.

The 19-year-old is understood to be attracting attention from others clubs in England and is expected to depart Parkhead this summer after failing to break through into the Celtic first team.

The teenager spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish League Two club Edinburgh City and has previous loan experience from a short spell at Stranraer, but has not made a first team appearance for Celtic.

A young striker who has come through the Celtic academy, Diver is down the pecking order at the club and will be allowed to depart, with new City head coach Grant McCann wanting to add youth alongside some experience to his squad next season.

I'm posting these things for information, but most of them are from really **** sources.

We've enquired about posh player Marcus Maddison apparently.

“Hull have been in touch,” Posh director of football Barry Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph. “It wasn’t Grant as he doesn’t deal with transfers.

“They asked how much we would want for him and I said they would have to match the buyout clause in his contract (£2.5 million). If they do that we couldn’t stop him leaving if he wanted to go.

He'd be a great signing, but it won't happen - even if we get a sell on from Maguire and Bowen and Grosicki leave for good money.

Same article also states Peterborough beat us to the signing of Colchester Utd defender Frankie Kent... Who they went after, after being beaten to the signing of George Edmondson, who we were also beaten to the signing of.

Here lies a problem. Not with actual signings in the end maybe, but the fact that the manager isn't involved in the call to the other manager to discuss the player at least is odd I'd think?

We don't have a manager, we have a head coach. His job is to coach, others are there to do the buying etc... That's why grant didn't pick up the phone and that's exactly why whoever did pick up the phone, phoned Barry fry and not posh's equivalent to grant ( can't think who it is )

Is that so uncommon nowadays? I think managers are pretty removed.

Surely the manager identifies a target and then it's Darnboroughs job to the rest.

And then it's the arseholes job to give the go ahead.

Ahem, I mean to say no obvs.

Manager/coach identifies the position(s) he wants fillings - Darnborough has the targets.

I find that unacceptable.

I may sound old fashioned, but surely it's only natural for the manager/coach to choose the players he wants to field?

I'm guessing the coach/manager would suggest names but, Darnborough knows how much he has to play with and if the coaches option is too much ..... that's the reality of it nowadays mate.

That Maddison at Peterborough does look a really good prospect. I hope the Allams can find £2.5m down the back of the sofa.
