The Neymar fee is crazy, but... PSG can obviously afford the deal, there's just FFP to worry about but they'll have that all figured out. Maybe sell a couple of players, shirt sales & merchandise will go up due to having one of the best players in the world playing for you.

It's like Gary Neville said about the Pogba deal, yes £100m is crazy money, but for Utd they'll get most of that back in sponsor deals and shirt sales. It's not like they're paying £100m and its a loss.. they get most of it back.

Re Neymar I honestly think it's a PR move, a signal of intent if you like. It's not about actually wanting Neymar or thinking he alone will win them theUCL, they're saying to the elite "we're coming to get you". It'll also help them recruit and retain other star players, such as Veratti.

La Liga has rejected an attempt by Neymar's lawyers to pay his buyout clause at Barcelona.

La Liga statement - We can confirm that the lawyers of the player (Neymar) have come to La Liga to deposit the clause and that it has been rejected. It is all the information we will give so far.

Dummy, spat. ****ing pathetic.

Exactly - clause has been met, deal with it. UEFA are the ones who worry about FFP.

I mean, we don't know that do we? It might be that UEFA oblige member leagues to try to ensure that deals meet FFP requirements before approving them. I have to wonder if your reaction would be the same if it was another league or club...

FFP rules are based on spending over a few seasons, UEFA have already said that the Neymar deal in itself isn't an issue, as PSG are more than capable of balancing the fee via player sales over the next season or two.

Eh? Of course it would. The governing body set the rules on this, it's not for individual leagues to police clubs from another country. How in the world can La Liga officials know the state of PSG's finances? I'm sure they can log an enquiry with UEFA but it would probably take them 3 months of full investigations to know if PSG can buy him within the rules.

I have to ask if La Liga officials would react this way if a foreign club wanted to buy an Albacete player, for example?
