To be honest, had Doomcaster had been here we wouldn't have brought Ricky...... or Bassong........or Fer ..... or Hooper ..... or Olsson ..... well, you get the message....

Nor would we have 'dined at the top table' - more likely to have ceased to even exist!!!

Excellent deal done by McNally:

"The Canaries have negotiated an up front fee of £1.25m with the Greens paying all of van Wolfswinkel’s salary during his loan stint in France. St Etienne then have an option to seal a permanent move for the 25-year-old for an additional £6m figure, with City also securing a 20pc cut of any future transfer deal should van Wolfswinkel make a success of his spell in Ligue One."

Note that those are pounds not euros.

Good bit of business but I'd rather we keep him if we get promoted.

Can I ask why?

Not that I'm against him but it goes against reason. He scored 1 pl goal in a season. I know the manager was not ideal but you can't blame CH entirely.

What makes you think he would be better next season in the pl?

I think we would have a team which can provide him with the service he needs and a manager who perhaps understands how to make a system work for a player rather then making the player rigidly fit into a system, I've given Adam's some stick but I reckon he'll be more flexible then Hughton.

That's a giant if but it would depend on the players we would buy, we'd need two decent attacking midfielders but for the championship Wes and Surman will provide good service but at a Premiership level there would have to be a personnel upgrade.

We've identified that the service was the main problem last season, the more I reflect on that I realise that main problem was Snodgrass he was the outlet for everything practically and barely produced anything for RVW or Hooper, the midfield trio was good at times but looking back at it they were too flat and at times very indecisive.

I remember there was two occasions against Southampton at home when he was in a clear cut goal scoring positions but Redmond having scored earlier wanted to take on the world, also that penalty against Villa that Snodgrass stole from him, I quite often wonder if it would be a different story if those chances went in.

I'd also like to see RvW return after the loan, but it depends on promotion and whether he fits into the team shape then. At least Adams has dispelled the conspiracy theory that he was 'forced out':

“I had a good chat with him at the end of last season, as I did with all the players, and Ricky by his own admission needed a move. He had a horrible season for himself after a great start. Things just didn’t work out. He had the opportunity to go and join St Etienne and he has taken that and he goes with out best wishes. I hope he does really well."

I can't see QPR coming in for Fer now, and nor can I see Southampton paying the top price City would demand, given how many players they have to replace.

They have got about £100m to burn however, substantially more if Schneiderlin and Rodriguez are sold as well.

If they can sell Lallana for £25m and then pick up a younger and potentially classier Dutch international even for £10m then surely that has to be good business for them, and not bad for us either if he wants to move on.

OFFICIAL: Cardiff have confirmed the signing of midfielder Tom Adeyemi from Birmingham for an undisclosed fee.

I wonder why h handed in a transfer request at Birmingham?
Good luck to the guy at his new club - apart from 180 minutes of the season! <ok>

People seem to forget RVW was injured for most of last season and when he came back he played while still carrying an injury. It just didn't happen for him last season, tactics, services and GK who were on form went against him too.

I guess the reason why I want him to come back next season is to try and prove the doubters wrong.

Fer isn't the same sort of player as Lallana and isn't as good. Not that I'm saying Saints won't sign him, I just think they'll need someone else as well, so they probably will try to keep the price down.

Of course, there haven't been any substantiated rumours about Leroy moving to St. Mary's. Everyone's just putting two (Koeman's dutch) and two (Leroy's dutch) together. Goodness knows what they've mate. 10million hopefully.
