One thing to note is that I'm quite sure that we will get all transfers done early on in the window this year. 5 reasons for this

1)this is the way MP has operated in the past. Looking at his history he has never made a signing of any note on deadline day!
2)most if not all signings I expect will be from other leagues and so will need as much time as possible to settle and build partnerships.
3)We seem to have the money to not have to sell before we buy and not look over our shoulder too much at bids for our players.
4)a couple fo the spanish teams are in particular need of quick cash and MP is in the perfect position to swoop
5)setting the tone early would be a good thing to show some of the current squad and prospective signings how serious we are

for the record, priorities for me would be a comanding CB, a utility full back a rangey midfield destroyer, a creative, pacey international winger and maybe an all round striker (would certainly be happy with Erazo, Gamez, Wanyama, Lens and Kone). around £40m should do it. Think Verdu would be a cracking free transfer as well.

6) Hasn't he already said he wants all his signings in place by July 1st? :P

Football transfers - May 2013
The transfer window closed for clubs in England and the Scottish Premier League at 23:00 GMT on 31 January.

Players out of contract and without a club can be signed at any time if they were unattached free agents when the previous window closed.

The summer transfer window reopens on 1 July, but clubs may announce signings before then.

That is different to what was printed elesewhere!

The window is open but most transfers can only take place when the player's contract ends. In most cases this is 30 June. The big name big money transfers won't be affected by this of course, as the transfer fee effectively buys out the contract.

It was my understanding that domestic transfers could happen as soon as the season ended? I swear we signed Rodriguez in May last year.

The window opens as soon as the last games are played in the league(s) the player is coming from and moving to. The question of transfers being official on the 1st July may be true but doesn't really matter as the player won't be playing any official games until after that date.

Spoke to an AC Milan fan who reckons Flamini will get a new contract. :(

Your quite set on Flamini aren't you Joe! I'd prefer Wanyama myself, and he fits the profile of players we go for a bit better, we definitely wouldn't sign both. Have to agree it would be cool to see Flamini in a Saints shirt though!
