I can't see us spending that much in this window. We don't need a total overhaul, 4 really good signings would stand us in good stead.

4 really good signings could easily cost £60m!

It's unlikely though isn't it. £5m has been suggested for Gamez for example.

I agree it's unlikely. That says everything you need to know about what I think of those ambitions, frankly <laugh>

Another thing to consider is we do have a large amount of players who we will be looking to move on. Quite a good chance that we could raise £10 mil or so from player sales, even more when you consider their wages

Let's just be excited the press are talking big fees on good players coming in, than smaller fees on our good players going out!

Is Frimmpong free this summer? I think he's a decent player.

Poch's view on the Shaw Rumours from Simon Peach on twitter

@SimonPeach: When I asked Pochettino about reports of @Luke_shaw3 to #CFC, he told me perhaps they should watch out for #SaintsFC taking their players!

@SimonPeach: Pochettino was straight faced when he said that about Shaw. Suggests #SaintsFC want to be one of the big boys & are no longer a selling club

    Gotta love the new regime!!!!

With Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Cork, nothing would get through the midfield. Play a 0-5-5 with Clyne/Shaw as wingbacks, Boruc as sweeper, we'll keep a seasonal clean sheet.

Wanyama signing would be even more exciting than Ramirez.

Nixon tweeted yesterday that we were close to Gamez and Erazo and maybe Wanyama. I think I'm close to bumping a couple of players into the solid category!

Surely we won't get all three of them. If I had to pick two I'd want Wanyama and Erazo - one big signing and one low-risk.

Same. Gamez would be a good signing, but I'm still not entirely sure how he fits in...we could comfortably rotate through three fullbacks, I suppose, though Clyne seems to be entirely impervious to basic human concerns like muscle fatigue.

One thing to note is that I'm quite sure that we will get all transfers done early on in the window this year. 5 reasons for this

1)this is the way MP has operated in the past. Looking at his history he has never made a signing of any note on deadline day!
2)most if not all signings I expect will be from other leagues and so will need as much time as possible to settle and build partnerships.
3)We seem to have the money to not have to sell before we buy and not look over our shoulder too much at bids for our players.
4)a couple fo the spanish teams are in particular need of quick cash and MP is in the perfect position to swoop
5)setting the tone early would be a good thing to show some of the current squad and prospective signings how serious we are

for the record, priorities for me would be a comanding CB, a utility full back a rangey midfield destroyer, a creative, pacey international winger and maybe an all round striker (would certainly be happy with Erazo, Gamez, Wanyama, Lens and Kone). around £40m should do it. Think Verdu would be a cracking free transfer as well.
