I'd say Gamez is as 'solid' as Astori at this point. Nothing else really convincing though.

Does not really fit the southampton way though does it? 28? I just can't see us investing in anyone other than extremely talented youngsters that can only increase in value. Astori and Lens are my hot picks at e minute.

It's only really under Adkins we saw that purchasing profile. It wasn't evident under Pardew when we signed Richardson, Hammond, Lambert, Butterfield etc.

Billy Sharp on Twitter:

"Had a lot of people asking about my future, all I know is I have 2 years left on my current contract with Southampton and just spent a very enjoyable season at nottm forest an I would like to thank everyone at the club especially the fans got a lot of respect 4 u all."

Conidering he's just signed a new deal, and Inter are in the ****ter financially, I don't see it...or maybe I have wool over my eyes.

And because they've missed out on European competition entirely, their revenue will dip even further...a spending spree might get them back into contention, but it also would cause them to run afoul of FFP. Cannot see them being able to 'test our resolve'.

Think it's time to sticky this page.

If they are looking to get all players signed by 1st July it's going to be a busy 6 weeks.

Going to be an epic summer.

Now that the chairman is staying and the power struggles have seemed to have been eased, wouldn't at all be surprised to hear a few rumours about arrivals into Southampton, and the ones about players leaving to ease off.

Well I don't mind rumours about players leaving as long as the rumours are about guys like Barnard and Fox rather than Schneiderlin and Shaw!
