Yes, it was the other leg, but you'd be naive not to think that it was the Keane tackle that started the injury problems that lead to his retirement. According to the man himself he never played a full game after that tackle and he feels it was the root cause of his retirement. And the worst thing was about it was that it was premeditated, it wasn't a Suarez or Cantona losing their temper on the pitch. It was something he had planned for 4 years. I think that makes it worse than anything I've ever seen on a football pitch.

Of course we will win more points with Suarez next year, any true Liverpool fan who thinks he should be sold is out of their tiny mind I'm afraid. Sure he's a knob, but so was Cantona, so was Maradona. Would you kick them out of your club if they were the only player winning you games? Of course you wouldn't. Suarez is a world class footballer, in the top 10 in the world, and we ain't going to attract players with even half his quality if we sell him.

Recognise this? It's the Fair Play award. England have actually won that since 1966. We've won **** all else though.

Winners of the World Cup include Italy (scandal-ridden), Argentina (Hand of God), Germany (Klinsmann's diving) and France (Zidane's headbutt and Henry's handball).

The rest of the world laughs at our sense of fair play.

I suppose those in their forties do look like pensioners in Salford, so I'll forgive you your idiocy. And i'm not the only one banned off your board, far from it. Also, if I was so boring going on about the Suarez and Ferdinand race cases, howcome your own posters brought it up every day for me to respond to?

I say it again: other leagues don''t see cheating as the heinous crime the British do. Hell, the French suspended an investigation into Ribery soliciting an under-age prostitute so he could play in the World Cup. All this will do is drive the price down because other clubs will know the Yanks are PR-sensitive so this could be the last straw.

Wow, this thread has been a painful read.

    My two cents....
I didnt get involved in the Suarez race row because I didnt know what was said between them and couldnt give a ****. ditto with John Terry and Anton Ferdinand.
This was a bite. Which is totally weird and proves the guy is nuts...he seriously needs help, especially considering this wasnt the first time he has done this.

There is no ambiguity here like there was in both race rows or when Hazard kicked that ball from underneath that kid. He bit someone and so should be punished, lump him with 3 weeks wage fine and ban him for half a dozen games....then move on.
Should Liverpool release him? Heck no, he is an awesome footballer, it wasnt their arms that got bit, why do they give a **** about a Chelsea football players arm. Why should they give a **** about Liverpools PR? They already love Liverpool. They only want their team to perform, and Suarez is a big reason as to why they win the games that they win.
So from a Liverpool players perspective I can totally understand why they wouldnt want him to leave.

However, please stop defending him by saying "But [Insert some other ****tard here] did this in [Insert year], which was twice as bad."
Like someone said earlier, its like excusing someone for murder because Hitler killed six million jews, and that was much worse!!
The media will make a ****storm out of it and over react, we all know this, thats what they do.
Liverpool should fine him, ban him for half a dozen games and get him some counselling in the meantime.
But if I were Liverpool i'd keep him, great footballer, and no one is going to bite your hand off for him now (Sorry, bad pun). Just help the guy.

Am I the only one that finds it a little coincidental that Suarez did this just before leaving Ajax!

Maybe this is how he engineers his way out of long term contracts! wouldn't surprise me if he went to PSG in the summer for less than 40m.

Suarez is a liability but also a great footballer with a lot of passion although that is no excuse for his behaviour, I hope the club dock a serious amount from his wages. I can see a 10 game ban coming his way especially how he is viewed by the FA, the right length can be debated untill the cows come home. Personally to me all footballers are a bit undesirable so I'd have no qualms with him staying, but whether he wants too is another question.

You've literally brought up an incident that happened over 18 years ago. Cantona received a criminal record with 120 hours of community service, was banned for four months by United and fined £10k, banned for eight months by the FA and fined another £20k, given a worldwide ban by FIFA and stripped of the French captaincy. I think it's fair to say that it wasn't taken lightly and the fact that people still bring it up every now and again shows that Luis Suarez isn't being unfairly targetted here over other violent incidents. And Cantona didn't have previous.

mmmmmmmm , no previous, from wiki

His performances in the First Division were good enough to earn him his first full international cap. However, his disciplinary problems began in 1987 when he was fined for punching team mate Bruno Martini in the face
The following year, Cantona was again in trouble because of a dangerous tackle on Nantes player Michel Der Zakarian, resulting in a three-month suspension;[8] this was later reduced to a two-month suspension as his club Auxerre threatened to make the player unavailable for selection in the national team.
In January 1989 during a friendly game against Torpedo Moscow he kicked the ball at the crowd, then ripped off and threw away his shirt after being substituted. His club responded by banning him for a month. Just a few months earlier, he had been banned from international matches for one year after insulting the national coach on TV

At Montpellier, he was involved in a fight with team-mate Jean-Claude Lemoult and threw his boots in Lemoult's face. The incident led to six players demanding that Cantona be sacked
In December 1991, during a match for Nîmes he threw the ball at the referee, having been angered by one of his decisions. He was summoned to a disciplinary hearing by the French Football Federation and was banned for one month. Cantona responded by walking up to each member of the hearing committee in turn and calling him an idiot. His ban was increased to two months, and Cantona subsequently announced his retirement from football on 16 December 1991

Basically he moved to England after having 6 clubs between 1988 and 1990, and no one else wanted him

Strictly speaking I meant attacking a fan as Suarez has previous with biting players. Yeah Cantona's no angel though, but he was being punished accordingly for what he was doing.

Too many fickle fans on here. Do I condone what he did? No. Should we sell him? No. Time to move on? Yes.

Come on peeps, he's been a bit silly! And apologised! Which doesn't make it right I know! But cut him some slack. Ivanovich and Benitez have to be respected for their stance on this. Can't wait to see what Lord Ferg makes of this.

Oh and finally, no body died, Suarez will always make the headlines but don't drive this Guy out of LFC, don't let him walk alone.

Exactly, I saw none of the 'kicking a ____' anywhere in there... Suarez has the handballs, the stamps (not sure if those were on accident anymore,) the dives, and many other things. But he also has bitten another player before. That's the worst. What person in his right mind decides 'this guy won't let go of me, I should BITE HIM?' Not kick, push, punch, tackle, or anything else. BITE. Don't defend that, it makes all of us look bad.
