I was going to point this out too but I think this would be a very bad move for Liverpool. If we agree a deal in principle for him to move in January or next summer, will he try as hard knowing he has a move lined up already? I think lining a move up is one thing but not actually signing it so that the buying could pull out would, despite being risky, be better <ok>

Here's the deal as far as LFC are concerned:

1) If you want him in January then you have to pay a premium on the price as we will have a shorter time to find a replacement. Suarez will be involved in the deal BUT we do not commit to the deal until some agreed time in the transfer window. Therefore if he does not try for us he jeopardises his own move.

2) If he stays until June then again the deal will not be signed until the transfer window opens and again only completed if he plays to his potential. The fee will not contain the premium as we will have had a whole season to find a replacement.

3) LFC still retain the right to refuse to sell to clubs that they deem to be their direct rivals.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reacted to Liverpool's vow that they will not let Suarez leave by stating he will continue his pursuit of the player in "a respectful and amicable way".

"There is nothing to add to what I said already about the transfer of Suarez," he said. "If it will be done, it will be done in a respectful and amicable way with Liverpool.

"I didn't read [Henry's] statements but we'll be faithful to the way we want to behave.

"We are looking at possibilities to strengthen our squad. Suarez is one of the targets. If he's not for sale, he's not for sale. We have to accept that."

This sums Wanger up in a nutshell <laugh>

He hasn't seen JDubbyas statement.....how unusual for you not to see something eh Prof

And even though "if he's not for sale he's not for sale"....he's still "one of the targets" <doh>

Is I was a Goon I'd be fuming. As I'm not a Goon....this is comedy gold.

1) We have four months to find a replacement before January come around, I'm sure we could dig something up in that time. In addition, I think Suarez could be in high demand come January; clubs know he wants out and depends on how he plays in the mean time, the club could want rid too. Liverpool haven't got European football so he won't be cup-tied for any big side making the latter stages of the CL either.

2) Agree that the deal shouldn't be signed but the premium might be higher should Uruguary qualify and he has a good world cup <ok>

3) True but again, surely depends how he plays in the mean time as to what the club want to do in that situation?

What I'd really like to see happen now is for Rodgers and Henry to sit down with Suarez and say to him you've got two options:

Option 1. You publically apologise, get your head down for the season, play to 100% if/when we select you, and try and regain a little dignity and the respect of the club, if you still want to leave in a year we'll see then but if we're a champions league club by then, with your help, then why would you want to leave.

Option 2. You can continue your stupid games and stinking attitude and go and play at Crewe Alexandra or wherever with the reserves, you'll be away from the big stage and we'll basically continue to make your playing life as difficult and miserable as possible for you.

What if what Suarez is claiming is true and this all happened a year ago...? Can't see Suarez believing too much of that if his is the correct story. Plus, even if his version isn't the truth, if Luis believes it is then whats true or false doesn't really matter.

It is comedy gold. He's not only a very silly old man but I can almost certainly guarantee that the Board members of Arsenal have read Henry's words and should have warned him that he is making their club look rediculous.

G, where is your head at?

Suarez has to look at the situation as it is - not as he would like it to be. If his advisors truly believed that their version of a verbal agreement was the truth and had power then he would have brought some form of action either via the FA or the Premiership or via the courts. That has not happened.

It's the usual appeasement now, it's a pretty unbelievable, contradictory thing to say. Panic stations at the Emirates I think, the end of the transfer window rapidly approaching and no other decent targets.

Just playing devil's advocate <ok>

I agree with what you're saying but will Suarez? If he believes he's been given promises like this before, what is the difference this time? Or are we going to give him another new contract and payrise? aka Rooney / Man Utd

Its almost the "I'll get the last word" game. Plus it keeps the Arsenal fans on a leash since a lot of them hang off his every word <ok>

Just seen this. Don't know if its a re hash of what has already been said or new quotes as its on goal.com who are normally unreliable.

The Anfield boss believes the Uruguayan understands the club's decision to reject all bids and says the striker will eventually rejoin first-team training

Brendan Rodgers has urged Luis Suarez to accept that he will not be sold by Liverpool and believes the striker will still have an influential role at Anfield this season.

Following Suarez's claims that he was promised a move from Anfield this summer after the club failed to secure a place in the Champions League, Liverpool owner John W Henry has reiterated the Uruguayan will not be allowed to leave.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has since reaffirmed his desire to sign Suarez this summer but concedes that he will accept Liverpool's decision not to sell the striker if the club do not deviate from their stance.

"Luis is training on his own and he understands totally where we're coming from," Rodgers said.

"We're quite calm. The club is in control of the situation. We've got no inclination to sell and we've been strong on that.

"Luis has fought for his life for Liverpool. There will come a point where he'll recognise the club is not going to sell.

"It's been a difficult period for him but it's my job to protect the group. Once he's back with the spirit he'll rejoin the group."

Suarez earned many plaudits for his performances last season, a campaign in which he scored 30 goals in 44 appearances, and Rodgers is confident he can reproduce that form upon his return to action.

The Uruguayan will miss the first six games of the season after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last term, but Rodgers is confident in his striker's ability to hit the ground running.

"He's a world-class striker," Rodgers said.

"I've got no question that when he's back he'll have a similar impact [to last season]."

Whatever was or wasn't promised to him, the fans deserve an apology as we didn't 'lie' to him. He has shown disrespect for the way we've stood by him.

Amazing how things are moving really. He was balancing on the edge and we've grabbed his shirt tales.

Arsenal fans have now piped down.

Have a feeling this has a lot of mileage left in it though. Rodgers and Danny Murphy are trying to build a bridge for him back to Liverpool.

Difficult to see how it will go.

Yeah. We need him, but not that much.

I can still see him going to be honest although I'd be relieved if it wasn't Arsenal.

Why Danny Murphy mate?

Found this comment on ja from an Arsenal fan:

"The way liverpool betrayed suarez by lying to him is as low as you can get. He deserves a club who will respect him and give him CL football."

They've changed their tune <laugh>

Contrary mary you mean <laugh> We already have a devil's advocate in Tobes<ok>

Why Danny Murphy mate?

He has come out in the press today which is doing the rounds in the football media.

Basically said he can still play for Liverpool and so forth. Basically trying to persuade/give the picture that he can still come back.
