To be fair to Rodgers he did say he is not for sale but every player has a price.

I see this as a big gamble for Arsenal and would be happy to ship him off there for £50m, that is a hell of a lot of money and I trust BR to re-invest it well.

Take £50m and let him be the gunners problem I say <ok>

For all the trouble that comes with Suarez, he has the ability to change matches. Selling him to a direct rival who are competing for top 4 wouldn't be smart IMO.

I know what happened with Torres but that doesn't mean that everyone who leaves LFC become crap. Mascherano and Alonso have enjoyed success since leaving LFC and compete at the highest level.

The thing is, 1) Are there players out there of quality that we can bring in. 2) Clubs will know we have £50m in the bank, and besides, our reputation in the transfer market isn't exactly going to help.

Of course if we bought in two quality signings with the money we wouldn't be as bad of, but with every passing day we come have as little time to find them. Let's be honest, we won't be able to get a player as good as Suarez, and we won't be able to attract anyone in the bracket underneath him. Let's hope our scouting team are up to it.

Arsene Wenger has came out and said the rumored bid of £40 million plus £1 for Suarez is utter rubbish.

And that the extra £1 was in fact for Stuart Downing.

Perfect opportunity to change that perspective <ok>

I think buying Coutinho and Sturridge is evidence of buying 2 players can benefit the team more than having one world class star.

If we had the choice of starting with just Suarez, or with Coutinho and Sturridge (no Suarez), then I'd pick the latter option.

It sounds like this contract clause is going to likely to cause conflict here.

His management team obviously think the over £40m clause entitles other clubs to speak to him, but Liverpool are obviously contesting that & demanding much more.

I don't see how a contract clause that allows another club to speak to the player can be viewed as anything other than a release clause, can it?

#confused

Come on Tobes you are being disingenuous now! Both LFC and Suarez's agent know the terms of the contract but both have their own views on how it may be interpreted. LFC don't deny that, at £40,000,001 they are required to inform Suarez of the offer and allow him to talk to that club. However, LFC have made it clear and Suarez's agent has not disputed that they are not required to accept an offer that does not meet their valuation. Therefore it is not a release clause that is trigered automatically.

if i had a choice of having 50mil and having to negotiate very hard or not havning 50mil and suarez i'd take the 50mil.

the point on coutinho and sturridge should read: having one world class but troublemaking player v having a pretty good striekr and one potentially world class player.... incidentally we can but 2 20mil players with suarez money... thats a big deal for us.

Agreed. The latter cost £27m, the former will be sold for at least £40m.

No idea although those two I've just highlighted puts the potential spending of £40m+ into perspective as much as your two <ok>

Unfortunately, you're absolutely correct. However, Allen and Borini were both signed before the transfer committee were set up.

In addition, I hear we're signing two more of City's scouts who will join in October after they serve their notice. Not sure if anyone else had heard this?

Well I hope we're not planning on waiting on them before buying anyone else <laugh>
