If he's playing for us this season and giving 100%, great, that's a world class player we've hung onto. He's still a world class dirtbag but if he helps us make any sort of push for top four the words of Don Draper will quickly come to mind, 'it will shock you how much it never happened'. Short memories in football these days.

hopefully he'll get us into the CL then we get rid.

So it looks like he's staying. Moral victory for the club I suppose.

If he is offered a new contract, I certainly hope there are no additional financial incentives included as he doesn't deserve any. Just put in a release clause for £55m so there is no confusion next year.

Why would he sign that? He'd be better off sticking with the current agreement and kicking up a fuss!

So he's doing a "Rooney" is he?

Dear oh dear, so does this mean that you're going to go from defending the indefensible, to calling him a ****, to loving him again?

haha, this is ace, what a soap opera, footballers are the most fickle, greedy ****ers on the planet.

Suarez: "For now because of all the affection of the people I will be staying"

By James Pearce

Luis Suarez has hinted he's ready to knuckle down and resurrect his Liverpool FC career .

The Uruguayan striker, speaking in Toyko ahead of today's international friendly, appears to have accepted the fact that the Reds won't sell him this summer.

Suarez told Uruguayan newspaper El Observador that the support of the club's fans has convinced him to stay put.

“For now, because of all the affection of the people, I will be staying,” Suarez said.

Suarez issued a public attack on the club last week when he accused boss Brendan Rodgers of breaking a promise that he could leave this summer if Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The 26-year-old, who wrongly believed there was a clause in his contract which meant he could leave for more than £40million, wanted to join Arsenal .

However, Reds principal owner John W Henry informed Suarez that there is no chance of him being sold during the current transfer window .

Suarez has been banished from the first-team squad and has been training on his own at Melwood.

But Rodgers insists there is a way back for him at Anfield and has vowed that they will reassess the situation once Suarez returns from international duty later this week. If his attitude improves then last season's 30-goal top scorer will rejoin the group.

Love the "for now" bit. What a **** <laugh>

Wait and see.<ok>

I for one won't, won't be defending his stupidity any more, will cheer his goals for the team though, loving him again? That depends, if he stays for many a year now, helps us to success, then the love may return, right now its moderate appreciation of his footballing ability!

If this is true there will be some shocking backtracking on the Arsenal board for Kyle, Zlatan etc.

Not really (not that I'd ever expect them to either) as he's "doing a Rooney" so to speak. There is no way I'd be giving him a new contract. I'd say there is an offer on the table and let him see it but refuse to sign it until about November at least!

Very pragmatic mate, but I'm not overly convinced that once he's back & his old tricks inevitably return, that there still won't be plenty of reds who go back to defending him over & over......

He can sign seven contracts and retire here if he wants, he's still a **** in my eyes <ok>

Obviously there will be, that's the same at all clubs.

I've bookmarked this <laugh>

Only joking.

I've been thinking about how I would feel if one of our lot did this to us & then turned on his heels. Not sure tbh, I think they'd always be tarnished, as they'd showed the club & the fanbase disrespect. I think in Suarez case, this is even more pertinent given the way he's been supported (at times blindly imo) by reds & the club, but I suppose ultimately what happens on the pitch will always gloss over anything else, that's football.

Surely we wouldn't offer him any sort of contract?... Not after all that has been said this Summer? <confused>

Actually it'll simplify it for everyone.

Club wins moral & financial victory after a player has made it clear he wants to leave: new contract for "3" years taking away the risk of valuation drop that Tobes banged on about and if there's an actual release clause put in its 55-60 Million to guarantee if/when he is sold it's for the right amount for the club (possibly a never Arsenal clause lol)

Everyone happiest in an unhappy situation. Except Rodgers and the apology situation unless of course BR just doesn't give a **** about it and will accept a promise of what he wants a return to a professional attitude in training etc...I'd personally still force some kind

I still want him gone (last time ill bother saying that) but its on our terms.

Hopefully.....still plenty of time to screw it up, have him be an arse etc

More fool them then..
Will take many a year of loyal service and non-stupidity before I let him near heart of my bosom or bosom of my heart again!

Bookmark away, I'm not one to change ones mind <ok> (I seemed to have gone a tad posh there <laugh>)

At the rsik of getting shot down here, I didn't 100% back him in the previous stuff either, especially the handshake bollox. He knew he'd done wrong (he admitted it) so why argue? Yes, the punishment was harsh but he presented the opportunity in the first place. Same with the biting and diving etc.

I can't see Suarez signing a contract that has a £50m or £55m release clause. It is clear for all to see that no one is willing to pay that sort of money. I think it would be a compromise of about £45m but not to an English club. I'll be pissed if he gets a payrise out of it #****

Apology...

What was BR's actual wording? Would an apology in private suffice?
