Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
The incident happened during the 2-2 draw between the Reds and Chelsea.

An FA statement said the match officials had not seen the incident and it had been "retrospectively reviewed". It added that, while the standard punishment for violent conduct was a three-match ban, that was "clearly insufficient in these circumstances".
Suarez has until 18:00 BST on Tuesday, 23 April to respond to the charge before an independent regulatory commission will be convened on Wednesday, 24 April.

Suarez has apologised for biting the defender and, although the Anfield club have fined him, they insist the Uruguayan still has a future with them.

Watch him get a 10 match ban starting after we've played them. Would be typical the way our season's gone.

The hearing's on Wednesday so it will depend how long he gets. If he gets a massive ban then Liverpool might decide to appeal which could mean he plays at the weekend. I don't think they'll appeal unless its a really bad ban though. They seem to be doing their best to say he deserves to be punished and protect their own image.

I hope so. It looks like they will accept ay ban that comes his way. I mean they can't argue with 10 games if that's what is handed out.

I am not condoning Suarez in any way, his actions were disgraceful. But it can't be ignored how differently the subject is being treat by the media and fans alike to the Defoe incident all them years ago. Of course Defoe was booked at the time so no action could be taken but I don't remember this huge public outcry. It just got swept under the carpet because Jermaine is a good christian boy!

Its great he's getting banned though. Personally I don't think you can give him more than 4 or 5 matches, it was only a nibble and he was hungry

I think it's his 'previous' that created the stir and clamour for a longer ban. Had it been a one-off incident (that was completely out of character), then it might have shocked people, but without the same reaction. But because everybody hates his constant cheating, diving, trying to get players booked, the whole Evra racism incident AND the fact he has been banned before for biting.....

Stop picking on him.......he's a ferally decent human being

Just to be controversial, in some ways Suarez is unlucky to be charged, though only in terms of how the incompetent FA apply their own rules. The incident happened in the six yard box and pretty much on the ball (the beginning of it at least). I'm fairly sure that all four officials would have been looking in that direction. They saw the incident, they just didn't see that the incident included a bite. If I was Suarez I might be wondering why I was getting charged when other tackles are seen by the officials, but they don't notice that those tackles were fouls. The players who commit those fouls are not retrospectively punished because the referee and/or assistant referees were looking.

No prizes for guessing which incident I'm wondering about!

Colo should have done the world a favour and took him out properly. He sadly bottled iy (probably because he isn't a **** like some players are) and got sent off for nothing really. If he would have kicked him into the stand, shattering a leg I imagine most other fans bar Liverpool supporters would have applauded him.

The problem is Suarez is such a disgusting, cheating win at all cost, rat faced bastard and deserves any punishment the FA throw at him. I only wish he did it to a seasoned nasty bastard of yesteryear, someone like Duncan Ferguson. Could you imagine the destruction that would have been rain down on him? It would have been hilarious and possibly the first time a player was beaten to death on the pitch.

Players like Suarez never inflict their cowardice on people like Big Dunc!
