Well we haven't been talking Heavily on goal scoring... And lambert wouldn't of score half of his goals if it weren't from the pen spot! Just linking up players and holding the ball up... I'd be impressed if bates opened his wallet for Keogh
Take Lambert's penalties away, and he'd be the joint 3rd leading scorer this season. Still pretty damm impressive.
True... But he's played in every single game for us... Where as other players like Keogh haven't due to managers decision to leave them bench bound or injured
Fair point. Though I would say that people also need to consider those sorts of things when it comes to players as well, as I've just done with Lukas and Sharp. If Sharp had played as many minutes and as many games as Lukas, I'm certain he would have more goals. He'd possibly be challenging Lambert for top goalscorer.
Billy Sharpe is top goal scorer.. for obvious reasons he is not the top scorer.. injury not to mention lack of service from doncaster no disrespect to them.. but he would be a good partner for lambert... Don't see him as the replacement.. Lukas could be.. but he looks bit thin and might get bullied off the ball.
Looking at the stats, it's interesting to see that all of Lukas' 8 goals have been scored in the 2nd half. Of everyone in the league to have scored more than 5 goals, he's the only one without a 1st half. Also, as we're in need of improving our away form, it might be worth pointing out that 5 of Sharp's 7 goals have come away from home. And just as interestingly, considering he too is linked to us, the only person with more away goals than Sharp is Maynard with 6. (Just our luck that between the two of them, they have just 3 home goals and 2 of those were scored against us!)
I'd consider what type of player they are probably more so than their goal record. We don't need another Rasiak who scores goals but does **** all else. Any reasonable finisher will get his share of goals, but he needs to be able to play too if he's going to fit in.
Lukas is fairly tall, fairly quick and has a great first touch. Similar player to Jay Rod, but has scored more goals and for a worse team. AND he's a Saints fan.
It must be tough weighing up all the options to bring in a adequate player for us.. for this one i hope it isn't someone overseas if we are targeting to strengthen our striking options.. and rather someone who is proven and will improve from the NPC
I watched the Leeds-Burnley game on BBC the other day, and he looked very good - but he didn't look like a natural goalscorer. And I think that's what we need (hence, I've don't really want us to sign him).
Jay Rod has started scoring for Burnley now that Austin is injured and I don't think its a coincidence. I don't think it's because Vokes is an especially good player, but he is far less selfish than Austin and will play his part in creating chances, thus allowing Jay Rod to score. We can find a far better option by looking at much more than just the goalscoring charts. Can he play? Does he work hard? Can he form effective partnerships with teammates? Is his movement good? Does he have potential to improve? Can he hit a cow's arse? Is his attitude right? Is he often injured? Connolly answers 'yes' to all of those except "potential to improve" and ideally we want someone who also answers 'yes' to all of those except the last one. A good player will thrive in his ideal role, but players aren't always played in them or don't have the right players around them.
Ebanks-Blake. If he's fit then he won the golden boot for being top scorer in the championship for 2 seasons running before Wolves were promoted. He's only 25 and has been kept out of the Wolves side by Doyle and they have only played 1 up front. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ4sB-PHlgk
I can't add anyone else's name to this thread, but one thing is for certain, IF Nicola wants to improve the squad and buy a striker ready to play in the Premier League, then he must be prepared to give NA a budget of at least 5 million pounds. It is possible that potential targets end up much more than that figure in today's inflated transfer market.
Sharp had agreed to move in the summer and then cortese lowered our wages offer - this is why that deal fell through He has been speaking with andy crosby recently and we have been trying to do something
