If the chairman says its a big signing then maybe its going to be someone outside the championship, most of the better skrikers in this league are with the money clubs who wouldnt sell to us, or are players like sam volkes who arent big players. Andy Johnson is a good shout, maybe Michael Owen? or that guy whos just left LA Galaxy! Now that would be a bit special
Who do we have so far? Maynard Rodriguez Sharp Sordell Emnes Jutikiewicz Fryatt Andy Johnson Owen Some guy from Heerenveen El Shaarawy (whoever he is) Hulse Rhodes Vokes Boyd Evans Austin Unlikely but we live in hope: Hooper Anelka Jo Zaha Defoe Any more to add?
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11734/7353943/Sharp-happy-to-stay Sharp says he's happy to stay at Doncaster at the moment, although it does sound like its mainly due to wanting to repay the club for their support following the tough time he has been through recently (which is understandable). He does also say this: "I spoke to Southampton in the summer, but it wasn't to be at the time," Doesn't sound to me as if the door is completely shut on this one. What do you think?
Putting two and two together (and almost 100% getting it wrong!) AVB is definitely offloading in January with Drogba rumoured to be heading to the Lane Based on Lampard apparently shouldering the blame for performances I can see him heading the same way to play for Uncle Harry (but that's another story and I digress) Adebayor is rumoured to be signing permanently in a cut price deal too Spurs are also looking at a couple of other strikers around Europe So where does Defoe fit in, especially as he needs games to make the Euro squad and may be prepared to take a ££ hit to do so.......?? The quote I read was that "the football world would be shocked when the signing was announced" and I certainly would be if this happened.
Dean Saunders certainly didn't rule out Sharp leaving in his post-match interview on Saturday. He wasn't even really pressed by the interviewer to say "everyone has their price", he just came straight out with it having been asked the question.
No way do I want owen here, he is more injury prone then connolly. If he was a horse he would have been put down by now. We need players that are either in their prime or up and coming youngsters.
sod Billy Sharp, he didnt want to come in the summer, whats going to make him change his mind PL football? I would rather have someone at the club whos going to help us this season in achieving that goal
Well presumably, yes. Can you blame him for not thinking back in August that we would provide him with a realistic chance of Premiership football in 2012? Most of us didn't even believe it, so of course he wasn't to. But it's different now. He seems to be a lad who likes playing and living up north. There needs to something lucrative on the table to attractive him down south, it would appear. Well money is off the table by all accounts (as I believe we refused to meet his large demands back August), but the prospect of Premiership football is most certainly on.
A quick bit of top 6 reserve scouting on FM flagged up these: Alex Nimeley – Man City Mame Biram Diouf – Man U Federico Macheda – Man U Harry Kane (loan) – Spurs Maybe a very cheeky loan bid for Romelu Lukaku of Chelsea for the ambitious amonst us too
Nimely is supposed to have a pretty big future, but I don't think they'll let him go. I suspect that Macheda will sign for an Italian side before too long, and I can see Diouf moving to France or somewhere like that. Both would also probably command fees of around £5m. I'm not sure if Harry Kane has what it takes. I'd just go for someone who has already scored a lot at this level. Jutkiewicz makes the most sense to me, and he's scored the most goals out of everyone mentioned I think.
Andy Keogh of wolves would be competition for lambert as i deffo think he has the all round play similar to lambo! What do you think?
2 goals in 15 games for Leeds this season is hardly shouting out at me. And besides, Leeds have an option to buy next him themselves month if they wish.
No-one mentioned has scored more Championship than him, but Fryatt and Austin have both score the same. Also, Sharp picked up a bad injury on the opening day which saw him miss quite a few matches - and yet is only one goal behind Lukas (who has yet to miss a game for Coventry).
