why would an accomplished pl player join us unless he is a has been. much better to go with the young hungry and talented philosophy
Most of those are over 30 and starting to slide, out of our range or simply no better than whoever is attainable in our own league. I'm no scout though and I'm happy to be proven wrong. Are there some frustrated reserve players out there with a lot to offer?
Rob Hulse can't get a game for QPR (due to the fact that they left him out of their 25 man squad). I remember mentioning his name back in August, as potential Ricky back-up.
We prob need someone who can offer us something a bit different: pace. We surely want someone who is young and can develop into a Premiership quality striker. Knowing Adkins wont play direct hoof ball and is keen to have technically good players then Maynard fits the bill closest. I know people have said he has had an off year but he scored some great goals last season and under the new Robins boss is looking like his old self. However, I am sure there are players abroad that I have overlooked.
I dont care who it is, as long as they do the job. Most likely be someone out of the blue like De Ridder i think.
How about Oussama Assaidi? 23 years old, 6 caps for Morocco, 7 goals in 13 games for Heerenveen this year and played with De Ridder at De Graafschap. De Ridder said he's the best player he's ever played alongside on twitter in a Q&A the other day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLebOIDBGeA
Plenty of better links than just that too.... he's got unbelievable tekkers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKfGItAC8fU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msRaRUklwPc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mxCMq8gJQI Lat
Sordell & Hooper please . i'm greedy. Hooper is already proven at this level to be quality. Sordell is young and talented, we know how to look after players like him don't we ?
I think if we get another striker it needs to be someone who can play the target man if Lambert is out but also someone who is technically good enough to play alongside him. Struggling to think of specific players but someone like the Brazilian Jo who used to play for Man City would fit in nice. I know thats probably a bit unrealistic but I think thats the kind of style of player we need. Good in the air, technically good and also has decent pace for a big man.
we are due a failure. since everyone that nice has signed so far has been a success story (possible except forte, but I'm sure he would be on the bench if we could have 7 subs) so yeah whoever we get will be a massive failure and not score this season.
This. Said it for ages. It's not his goals and assists that we miss (though they help), but his target play ad the way he is key to the way we play. None of our current other strikers can play that way.
I strongly believe we need a striker with pace so for that reason i would go for Sordell, Maynard or Zaha. Maynard being my preference with him being more clinical out of the 3 and his contract runs out at the of the season. Wouldn't mind seeing Sam Vokes as a back up target man for Rickie and Gary Hooper is also a great shout too.
People who are saying hooper clearly have no idea how integral he is to Celtic. He is to them, like Lallana/Lambert is to us. Speaking to my family (all of them Celtic) they would be horrified ifhe was sold and don't think he'll be sold for anything under £8/9million. We wont pay that for him.
My guess is we'll get some-one in from Europe as with Guly and Steeeve. Another Ostensdat would do for me!
