Just got back from Council. I caught a little cold off my brother or my niece, one of the 2, yesterday. So I feel pretty lousy currently. I don't usually get ill but this is the third or 4th time over the past 3 months i've been ill, which isn't pleasant.

Cricket World Cup latest. When I left work it looked like England were going home but the West Indies cocked up a winning position and England won narrowly. What a World Cup for us. Every game we've played it's been tight. This is how the table looks now:

1. South Africa, played 5, 8 points
2. India, played 5, 7 points
3. England, played 6, 7 points
4. West Indies, played 5, 6 points

5. Bangladesh, played 5, 6 points
6. Ireland, played 5, 2 points
7. Netherlands, played 5, 0 points

England have finished their group matches. Top 4 in each group go through. 3 games left in our group, 2 of them are games we'll be watching closely. India v West Indies, Bangladesh v South Africa. If West Indies and Bangladesh win, we are out. If just 1 of them lose then we are through to the quarter finals. England have played in 6 thrillers in this World Cup, amazing stuff.

England are through to the Quarter-Finals after South Africa beat Bangladesh comfortably. This means that our Quarter Final opponents will be Sri Lanka, that is of course assuming West Indies don't beat India tomorrow. If West Indies DO beat India tomorrow then we will play either Australia or Pakistan who are playing each other in their final group match at the moment.

Milton Jones tickets arrive, hurrah!!! Just finished a belated breakfast of Oatcakes and a can of Relentless. Now waiting for the old man to pick me up, then off to the Gardeners Retreat for the first time in months!!!

Goarnnnnnnnnnnnnnn you mighty POTTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOUNDS A GREAT BREAKFAST <ok>

The group matches have finished, and in the process Australia lost their first World Cup match since 1999. The Quarter-Final line-up is complete and is as follows:

23rd March - Pakistan v West Indies
24th March - India v Australia
25th March - South Africa v New Zealand
26th March - Sri Lanka v England

A tough, tough draw for England and we will have to play exceptionally well to win considering how indifferently we played during the group stage. Our form is reminiscent of Pakistan's in the 1992 World Cup when they played poorly in the group stage, but scraped through and ultimately played well in the Semi and the Final to eventually win so I guess you never know but I'm not holding my breath.

My predictions for the Quarter-Final is that Pakistan, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka will progress.

Here's hoping he gets better soon. Depression is a horrible thing, and as the quote from Trescothick in the article says, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/mar/24/geoff-boycott-michael-yardy-depression

And here's Boycott's pretty bad comments on it.

It must be a horrible thing to deal with. It must be difficult. My brother made a very good point earlier on Facebook and summed up my view on this perfectly:

I said only a few months ago that I was surprised more cricketers didn't suffer the same way that Trescothick has, with the relentless schedule that England cricketers are put through these days; and now Yardy leaves the World Cup suffering from depression. Hardly a surprise when he has only spent 4 days with his wife and young kids since November.

I'm back <ok> Bet some people did not notice I'd gone <laugh>

My absense was to due with family circumstances. All better now. If any of you wish to msg me, feel free guys - great to be back, how are we all?

Yes <laugh> hahaha well I am back! And yes, pleased for England but annoyed over the first penalty <steam> Obviously not a penalty.

Finally someone agrees with me on the penalty.

My predictions for the Quarter-Final is that Pakistan, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka will progress.

Back to cricket briefly. I got 3 out of 4 with my above predictions. South Africa did their traditional World Cup routine of cracking under the pressure and they went out to New Zealand. So it'll be New Zealand v Sri Lanka after Sri Lanka gave England a right royal spanking yesterday and India v Pakistan which will be played in India, security will be tight!!! Tensions will be high in that game.

Yes, obviously a blatant dive, he made a meal out of it for sure. Bit dissaponted on that front, but a 2-0 win all the same.

RE the cricket, you know I'm not in the know like you! But 3 out of 4 predictions is very good! :smiley-finger007:

Thanks. Have you done much this weekend Jub?

Well I went to York with a few friends, and just lazyed about watching the mighty boosh ALL yesterday! <laugh> Little bit obsessed. Anyway the time I spent away from here I really did miss that's for sure! I missed all the banter and discussion and even that one WUM we have trolling the place. Going to PM a few regs :)

Well with one of the Cricket World Cup Semi Final's finished, I have got 1 finalist right with Sri Lanka. Second Semi Final tomorrow. Security and tensions will be high as India take on Pakistan. I hope it goes through without any controversy or trouble between the fans.

On another subject, did anyone here about the murder on the Marston Road in Stafford today? Apparently they were shot and stabbed.
