I have to say I do admire the spirit, energy and effort from our team and PL, in spite of everyone knowing that we shall probably go down. Still missing some key players, but will Chambo get back in!? Still a slim chance.
It could go either way at the moment but there is a spirit there now. They need the rub of the green so that spirit doesn't get crushed and they get reward for that effort like the last gasp equaliser.
I just wish we had a Waghorn or Tom Lawrence! But it sounds as tho several new players are finding their feet and showing real potential.
I was not that bothered about Waghorn going for £5m and sure he’s a decent striker but he is somewhat overrated. He was anonymous today against Brighton and not even in double figures yet in a top side. It’s a shame we didn’t shell out for Lawrence though, he is a real prospect.
Judge is the closest we are going to get at present, his drive seems to be a big part of the difference. With our luck he’ll do his cruciate next match!
The way we are playing at the moment I think it's real shame Sears got injured when he did. He really could've been the player to score the goals for us in a 2 upfront.
We have had an extraordinary run of injuries and bad luck - which have undeniably influenced our results. Is this a feature/psychology of being bottom club, or thereabouts for months? Or, as I have raised before, is there an aspect of our training/medical/physio/re-hab team that needs investigating?
Joys of being on a train with dodgy internet during the footy / refresh reload wait for a station for decent WiFi and see how it unfolds! From what I gather ( could be wrong ) it was our perhaps worst performance of Norwich / Derby / Stoke - however perhaps that's understandable given - * New system * Stoke have quality players * Perhaps tired as third game Sounded like Bishop played really well - good fight to score at the death, didn't get the three we desperately required unfortunately - Wigan is a must however sadly Reading v Rotherham is the same day.............. Speaking of which, lets kick off the Wigan debate C O Y B
I would say it’s a bit of both if we are talking about ACL. The players are not as fit as they could be but they are also very tense. However the ACL injury rate is not statistically significant to say it’s not just a bit of bad luck. It doesn’t really need investigating, we just are not a club that invests in everything it could. I’m not sure our injuries are extraordinary - we could have expected our general injury rate to be about what it is and we would expect to have to use the squad at times. For example not to play Nsiala who is a more than capable CB is just daft in my book.
Stoke have been awful but no denying their quality. It’s a shame we didn’t find the same levels but that goal was huge. Everybody is raving about Bish. That’s what we need more than anything - quality players to stake a claim to be on that team sheet week in, week out.
I'm a massive massive fan of Teddy Bishop. Derby away 14/15 was perhaps the best debut I've ever witnessed of an academy player, he was insanely good. It's such a shame he's been injured repeatedly the past four seasons, that's his first back to back starts since 2016 I'm sure I read! Absolutely ridiculous. That said, if he'd been fully fit the past few seasons he wouldn't be here now - he'd have certainly been sold. Go on lad, stay fit.
Respectfully disagree, itfcptc. Sears has been underperforming for a couple of months now. He couldn’t do what Keane and Quaner are doing so effectively in the air, because he doesn’t have those qualities. So we’d have to chance the approach to games. I’m being fairly harsh perhaps, but I think he’s a very average player.
I didn’t see yesterday but I am not really seeing this effectiveness in the air. If we are so effective in the air why aren’t we scoring goals? Keane’s goal, as important as it was, was in acres of space unmarked.
I think I'm potentially on the same page as ITFCPTC here. Sears out wide in any capacity = massively not for me. Sears as a lone striker = same. Infact Sears............ I'm somewhat MEH about. However, Sears in a 2 with a big guy doing the battering / opening up the space = wind back to 2014/15 second half of the season with Murphy doing that and Sears as a foil. Now I'm in no way suggesting Keane is anywhere near as good as Murphy that season at that, that would be ludicrous. However, I do feel it's a shame Sears has got injured because I think he may have been the best foil for Keane - providing of course we keep faith with the same system with 2 uptop.
