Is nobody else irritated that his contract was written off and within hours he signs for another club? Are you telling me they couldn't afford to pay penny one for him? They could have at least paid a couple of hundred k.

I'd guess that the timing was not coincidental...teams generally don't up and sign players in that short a period of time without previous contact. They likely expressed interest, but were unwilling to pay a fee, and we allowed Utrecht to negotiate with him. Would suspect that we were then able to buy out the remainder of his contract for less than its full value.
Yep. I suspect Saints did get money for De Ridder in the sense of getting out of paying some of his contract. It was not worth prolonged negotiations with another club when Saints had begger fish to fry. De Ridder had virtually no chance of breaking into the squad. If he and his agent do all the work and finds a squad that wants him, might as well let him go.
You have to be fair to a player...if you don't want him, there is no point in making it difficult for him to move on. As said, we saved a lot from not paying his wages.
I see Frazer Richardson lasted 7 mins for Boro yesterday - his injury woes continue - shame, a good player when fit.
De Ridder struggled to get a regular place in the Championship but it is a good point about Saints plaing him out of position. However, I think the standard of football he is now playing is much lower than the PL. I'm surprised he lasted so long as I always felt his crossing was poor. The end product never seemed to be there with De Ridder.

His average pass completion for the season so far is 72%...
...that's based on his game-by-game stats of: 86%, 83%, 79%, 64%, 81% and 56%.
75%ish is good for an attacker - it's (slightly, but still) higher than Lallana, Lambert and Osvaldo.
Wanyama is on 81.4%, the fourth highest in our squad.
You can't average percentages in the normal way because the total number of passes in each game is different.
If they do it the same on professional journalist websites, it's the same inaccuracy for everyone. The thing is, do they..? Do they just count up the total passes for a season [so far] and then measure them against total completed..? What do you think Qwerty..?

I suppose it's the nature of the pass that helps. I would imagine that Wanyama makes a fair few short and square passes, to explain that completion rate. I say this because I see him give the ball away quite often and those that go astray are often not difficult passes to complete.
Whispering Dave agrees with me, which is slightly comforting. I'd rather be wrong, of course.
