Werner officially can't get into our injured XI now! <laugh>

There seems to be a very naiive hope that "when" players start returning from injury, things will get better.

I'd say it is more likely that this mythical 'when' will never happen. What we are seeing instead is every time a few players return from injury (e.g. Bentancur and Richarlison), another two players take their place before the treatment bed is even cold (e.g. Maddison and Solanke).

I highly doubt we'll see anything close to a full-strength XI for the remainder of the season, and we need to be prepared for that.

The sheer volume of injuries obviously isn't coincidental, and we should be planning as such instead of putting all our eggs in a basket that won't make it out the market.

Spurs Army on Twitter (according to my son) is reporting VDV is injured again. Anyone heard this?

Yeah I’ve just seen rumours on twitter saying he’s injured again and he missed Brentford because of it and wasn’t just rested.

If so and they’ve not signed another CB then that’s not good by the club.

Hopefully it was just a precautionary move. I suspect VDV is going to be over cautious considering his injury record and he just didn’t want to risk it.

If the news about VDV is true, is it time we had a conversation about what is potentially an overhaul required of our CB’s next season?

let’s say Romero is off elsewhere.
Dragusin for many, isn’t suited to Ange’s system.
Danso looks to currently be the 4th option we’ve struggled without so far.
VDV is our other “starting” CB. Do we now have to think about looking to replace him due to injuries? It’s looking very much like we can’t expect him to play the number of games we need out of him. Sadly, he could be one of those players who had an injury plagued career.

therefore, for example, do we sell Romero and replace with someone like Guehi, sell Dragusin and replace with someone who can compete with VDV?

leaving us with:

1 x Romero replacement
1 x upgrade on Dragusin to compete with VDV
VDV
Danso

Next season likely to be like last season and no European football so the injuries will calm down hopefully as there will be at least 10 less games.
