Made this a sticky thread as it's pretty obvious we all want a new and improved banner for our board.

I have asked what size it needs to be and am awaiting a reply.
 
at least 1800 pixels accross but better to make it 1920. downwards I usually use 375 pixels, but as long as its in that region, I dont think it matters.
 
on my monitor? 1920*1280 but its mick he likes them full screen (accross) which does mean if members are on a smaller monitor, then they just see the middle. If you had

Sunderland over the entire banner as an example, on 1920 you would see Sunderland, on 1280 underla on 800 nder as the banner is a fixed width, it doesnt maximise/minimise with screens. which is why its such a PITA.

I use firebug on Firefox to line everything up properly, usually takes a few pics, but its better than hit and miss.

Right let's try and get a few banners, then do a poll and see what the people want.

You can tell i've got nothing better to do on a Friday night.
 
just opened another of mine, its about 104 pixels from the top that gets hidden, and then you have about 85 pixels until the transparent foreground comes into play.
 
from the top

1-104 pixels = hidden
105-190= visable (ish havnt measured this exact)
191-375 = behind the transparent bit.

the sides will also be ghosted a bit, probably 10-30 pixels in from left/right

problem is if you make it 1800 like we were all told, and its HD images, Mick or the forum expands it to 1920 so it looks **** and pixelated and magnified, so best to make it a little bit too big and just white ghosted out, rather than a little bit too small and the forum expands it.

yep its a right PITA in all honesty, you have a huge banner, bigger than any banner out there probably, but you have the tiniest space that actually shows properly, but you cant leave the rest blank, or it just looks daft, you also cant have anything specific on the far left/right as those with smaller screens cant see the things. it is doable but its a lot of pissing about before you get it spot on.
 
I think we should have some legends on our banner as well, possibly a pic of WHL with the legends faces over the top, what do you all think to that.

Other than Ledley King, I personally wouldn't want any other current players on there as we could end up like Newcastle (Nolan is in the middle of their banner)

I am probably setting myself up for a big fall here as I only got 3 votes in the Newcastle poll, but its just an idea you may be able to incorporate for yours if you like. (in hindsight, maybe i should have had a bit more of the bodies showing under the white transparent crap, not just their heads, but you live and learn)

With some text somewhere maybe, and could put another coloured image either side for the widescreeners.
 
Very nice WY, but I think we're best keeping it to only faded on the horizontal, which is enforced.

I like that it looks nice, simple and clean though.
