I thought our current clowns were impressive when they came in. They spoke smartly and seemed to have a plan.

Stitched me up like a ****ing kipper.

Optimistic about this guy mind.
They were never able to give specifics, nor actually finance anything. There was 0 substance to their statements. This is very different but early days. I think we all should be more hopeful but realistic enough not to expect immediate results

Where?

Seriously, I've never heard anything like it at Sunderland. The new manager usually looks in the desk drawer, dusts off the dog eared old acceptance speech and trots it out ...

... this is something entirely different from someone so committed he's moving his young family to the NE.

I'm confident that he'll make a big difference.
I don’t think it’s meant to be taken as literal as that. What he’s saying is that at the moment it’s just words but no action. Remember that a lot of us were taken in by Donald and Methven and their words. “The piss taking party....”.

Heard it all before tbh. Can’t fault what he’s got to say, but I’ll take it as a pinch of salt until it’s put into action.
Neither Congerton or Di Fanti came out with as detailed info as this.

yes be cautious but we have never heard anyone at Sunderland speak like this. Yes he is saying the right things but he then seems to explaining how he will do it.

optimistic about our future now. If anything it means we won’t be signing dross heading here for a last payday. That to me is a massive step in the right direction.

Yeah I know what he means mate,.

However I'm not prepared to judge everyone against Donald and Methven.

I'd say the very fact Speakman is there is action as is the fact he's spoken to the parents of Academy players etc. We're much more likely to hang onto young lads if they feel people are in place who they can trust.

The deadly due had a plan built on sand and had no substance to it.

IMHO The new plan will be solid throughout. Nobody will be brought in who doesn't buy into it.
As he says he was impressed with LJ immediately.
End of January is only 6-7 weeks away and i expect us to have a totally new outlook and feeling a lot happier

LJ needs to keep us up and around the play off spaces between now and the end of the Jan window then we can push on from there.

Impressed with both LJ and speakman so far. Bit of, not caution, but realism needed. There not going to be able to work miracles in the 1st 2 months.

I think in his first interview it seemed it was totally his concept of how the club will run his responsibility to improve the club.
Imo he will do this with the team he picks he seems very assured, confident and determined .
In my time sunderland have always been a club not professionally ran,I think it will take time probably a lot of patience from supporters but a few years time there will be improvements.

Impressed with speakman.
Comes across focused and professional but crucially aware of balance between the work and social structure etc.
The key here could be him and Johnson, (to use a naff phrase)
Singing from the same hymn sheet.

All looks positive up to now.
It'll be amusing if all this bears fruition and it comes to light that Donald and Methven had a hand in it :D

I enjoyed the bit where he seemed inches away from saying we were after the Dortmund model.
