Of the choices available, that's the only one that made any sense at all . . . . although I would have suggested the 'New Roker End'

Having said that I've always referred to it as the Roker End, anyway, like I've always called ours the Fulwell End :emoticon-0105-wink:

I liked the Bob Murray end more after Saffy suggested it but of the choices Roker was the best for me.

If something similar happens in the future I'd like the East Stand to be named 'The Robert (or Bob) Murray Stand' . . . . which would be a great way to honour him :emoticon-0105-wink:

Surely the north stand is closer to Roker though so would have made more sense.

I hope they are going to honour the history of the name and chop the roof off then

The Roker End hardly appears in that video. There's much more footage of the Fulwell End.
Anyway, not that it really matters, but it's not the Roker End, so why not call it something different?

I would have gone for something like the Bridge End, or the River End or the Wear End

I do agree with giving the stands proper names though. North South East and West is boring

Well, yeah, why not? Like I've said previously, I always saw the SoL as a new start. I think its important to celebrate the club's past but at the same time, you have to look to the future. Naming everything after the various elements of Roker Park just seems like we can't move on. Naming stands after great players seems a much more fitting way of celebrating the past but at the same time creating something new.

I dont like the fact its called the Roker End due to the fact that its not the Roker End.
Should have just called it the City End or summit like that.

This was my thought, but the Roker End was at the South end of Roker Park, a pal pointed out.

The Roker End was also the away end, as the ‘south stand’ should always be. Not up in the gods at the north end

Originally the North stand was the home singing end, and the atmosphere was cracking. However, many left the North End to get close to the away fans in the South and the atmosphere suffered, and when they moved the away fans up a height altogether the atmosphere at home got even worse..
