Decision today by the FA that all leagues below National Leagues North and South are finished with no promotion or relegation. This means no promotion for SS who have spent a little bit in the hope of promotion to National League North. Not sure if any legal action would be successful. Bit of a blow.
 
Scandalous. ****e decision, but if this is the decision, it should be across the board. If south shields dont get promoted, liverpool should not win the league. If seasons cant be completed, for example, liverpool should be given the league. Norwich should play Leeds over 2 legs, winner gets premier league football. Premier league Second off bottom should play championship second off top. Winner gets premier league football. This idea should go throughout the league system.

I guess they're just doing what they think is right but it is a killer of a decision.

There's also knock-on effects higher up the chain. Presumably you will have a league where there is promotion on offer but no teams from it are being relegated as the league below can't promote.I know one thing, if I was a Liverpool fan looking to celebrate the inevitable first title in 31 years I'd be sweating into my pint tonight!
 
It's a shame but I wouldn't say they've been shafted.

It's just a precursor to the rest of football suffering the same fate imo.

I've been a fanatical football supporter for over 50 years but I've not given the season another thought since this started ....

... there'll be clubs that don't even survive let alone be promoted.

Unless the higher leagues offer money to help I would imagine there's going to be 10+ teams going to the wall over this gap. Add in the number of fans who may have to tighten belts and not renew our attend next season and it's going to hit them hard.

There are more important things, though the lasting legacy of these months is going to be bleak and wide-reaching unless measures are taken by those who can afford to do so ( and in football it has to be the FA and Premiership, what difference does 10 million pounds really make to a club in the top flight, we wasted four times that on bloody Joelinton).

Sadly I have zero faith in the football authorities ...

... I've seen these 'blazers' operating, at close proximity, and they're absolutely sickening.

The only exception was Geoff Hurst who struck me as a decent man who actually loves the game ...

... for the rest of them it's just a trough they can't take their nose out of.

Where have you been all your football supporting life if you really think that the FA and the Premiership have any real thought for The little clubs.
Bury could well be joined by enough others that they could form their own league.
The FA have never done anything for our club and were still perceived as a big club so God help the little clubs.

I know you were putting it out there and don't really think the authorities will help.

Trouble is mate, as a groundsman, coach driver, kit man, whoever, you wouldn't risk your life for a football match.

People will want absolute guarantees that the virus is no longer a threat and the government won't say that unless it's certain.

That won't happen until the start of next season at the earliest imo.
 
Lots of teams at Steps 3-6 have a backlog of games due to the wet weather recently causing numerous postponements because of waterlogged pitches. For part-time players, there just wouldn't be time to squeeze enough games in to finish the league.

While it is gutting for clubs who should have been promoted, the only other solution was to work it out on points per game. That would have been considered unfair by teams in relegation positions who think they could have played their way out of trouble. It's an unsatisfactory end to the season, but really it's the most sensible decision they could have reached.

If it was halfway through then write it off but at this stage I think postponing and making space for it in the future is the fairest solution. If it means putting various things which haven't happened yet back then so be it. Who cares about a bit of reshuffling with what's going on.
 
Just a thought.

Why not complete this season's fixtures (however long it takes to safely do so) and cancel next season instead?

That way team's efforts this season won't have been in vain.

As I said, just a thought.

Am I the only person who laughed out loud, at this? Shields have been the Man City of local non league football. Splashing the cash for seasons now with under the counter payments to players. The owner is a dick head, as well. Unlucky :emoticon-0136-giggl
