Much will depend on recruitment, how new players get up to speed and gel and getting the spine of the team right, and a bit of good luck with injuries. I would go for a top-half finish, and if you get the rub of the green with the things I mentioned then a playoff place might just be achievable. As far as the spine goes, if we get Baxter in with Ingram, Centre backs are in place, then we need a good midfielder and forward to complete it.
And this is a key point. To be able to compete in the transfer window from the off and a bit of cash and good feeling at the club to boot. This genuinely is going to be a good pre season news wise.
Need some experience and strength at the back. Too often outmuscled and very little cover for injuries, especially right footed.
A bit of experience at the back is vital to improving our current 3, but it's by no means our weakness this season, quite the opposite. Our defensive record has generally been excellent, given the amount of defending they've had to do. The naivety at times early season is less evident now. We've got a stupidly good away goals conceded record. The lads at the back have got to grips with the league. Now if we get the attacking threat sorted, especially at home, then we just might surprise a few.
The last 15 games see us already in 14th place. With some good additions we can certainly challenge for a play off place next season. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&s...cQFnoECAYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw16UE-9QyrLK0ejYSjWNvgQ
We ourselves in the past have proved it’s possible to go from relegation contenders to promotion possibilities. However, there are far more foundations to build this time. I’d be happy for slight improvement and building for the future but will Acun? At the same time, it feels like a lot of clubs will still be careful post pandemic. Will be an interesting season next year.
Been away on me annual jolly’s so first things first here. Congratulations to McCann and Shota on the work they both did in keeping us in the Championship. That win at Boro was f.kin immense and for me was a reminder of just how competitive and intense the Championship can be. As far as next season goes we obviously need more depth and competition for places along with adding some real quality to the squad to progress. The big Turk has made a few statements of intent so it’s down to him and Shota as to where we go now in a league that can either swallow you up or propel you to the giddy heights we all know too well. UTT.
I agree with others that it'll take us a few windows to slowly build up the team. But for me if we're to reach that next level and get back to the prem we'll need a better manager.
Indeed Chazz. Remains to be seen. Can’t think Acun has not got a player recruitment plan. Maybe link up with a Turkish club around loan players?
The QnA with Rob Palmer where he said about how little the Allams had spent meaning you could spend for a few years would suggest there is a plan to progress over a few transfer windows rather then throwing it all at one. Luckily for us owning valuable players like KLP and Greaves can sustain that longer if needs be like how Brentford have approached it in recent years.
