Gerrard has been distinctly average at Rangers.

The only thing he's done there is used his links and taken top Liverpool youngsters there on loan and signed a lot of older stars.

What was it Neil Lennon said, if he had Gerrards season at Celtic, he would have been sacked.
His first job! He's done well overall.

On the DoF situation. Sometimes I think it maybe works and sometimes it doesn’t. A DoF is unusually behind the scenes and not normally a world renowned top ex player.

When you hear of top players joining some teams quite often they state that they wanted to work with a manager mainly because of who he is. Not how good he is.

This is my main argument about employing a manager who can attract top players. A manager who is either world renowned for being a class manager. Or an ex player who is world renowned.

Your now being selective. I said he has done well. Which he has. And ami also said he could attract top players. If you look back both my comments are questions. Not statements. They had ? After them.
Only issue being is that Nuno had done well, very well. I think Gerrard has done well for his first job.

As for DoF, if we get a young manager then an experienced DoF would do well.

A more experienced manager, say Rafa, doesn't necessarily need one.

Personally think we need as many football men as possible so long as manager has final say.

No that’s not actually fair. All managers use their connections. Fact! As for Lennon. He’s in a luxury position in that Celtic are the Man City in Scotland with more money to spend. Gerrard has done well with what he’s had at his disposal.

He also appears to “manage” his players well to. From all accounts from Celtic fans they don’t like Lennon. Think he’s a fraud. And that he’s not done any better than his predecessor!

Agree with this. I want us to be ran as a professional club not a joke of a club like we are at present.

We just need the takeover done and some movement in the management side of things prior to players for now. That for me would be progress.

Then we can work to the future. Most top players at the moment would be coming for money. And that’s ok. But long term we need players coming because the whole infrastructure is in place for them to develop.

It will take 5-10 years to fix what Ashley has done to us!

Lennon is an awful manager so I don't blame the Celtic fans. Literally has only done something at Celtic add the is no competition.

I could've managed Celtic and won the league.

Definitely.

Which to me is why Rafa should be the man.

I think most Celtic fans judge their manager on two things. 10 in a row and how they get there and how they do in Europe.

Celtic won the league again. But that was expected. In Europe they where bang average.

Again I agree with you. Twice in one day. I need a sit down.

Seriously though even though I want something fresh he would actually be the sensible option. He knows the fans. Could attract top players. Knows the club. Is a good manager. Likes to build the youth. Understands that success is not just winning trophies but building the foundations.

I like poch but I feel he would be coming for “him” to build his reputation.

It does of course assume that the takeover goes through.

I do feel a little sorry for Bruce and I’m probably in the minority here but he’s done his best. Which of course might not be good enough for a mid table premier league club these days.

He’s basically admitted to us in his presser the other day that the bottom eight clubs it’s just about survival. Unfortunately we are a bottom eight club so he’s basically just admitted what his remit was.

Poch has spent loads and worse than that, he had money to spend, but chose not to, meaning Spurs missed out on Van Den Beek, all so he could play political games.

Poch in a decade of professional management has never won a single trophy.

no he hasn't

at Southampton and Tottenham aye.

which of these other supposed great managers have won things at these types of clubs..

I'm just certain that Pochs team is sending out loads of tenuous links in order to pimp him to clubs.

In the last week, we've had Rose saying Pochettino will end up at Man Utd. Reports that Poch wanted Maguire. Ardilles saying that Pochettino has got a good offer from us, but wants to wait and see. Poch saying that he thought he would take over Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Now there's rumours that should Zidane not win anything this season, he will be sacked. Ole after impressing for the last several matches, now on tender hooks that he's going to be sacked.

A few people on twitter seem to think the whole thing is bull **** and hasn't actually been approached. George Caulkin claimed that no contact had been made as of a week ago.
