Like I said in the other comment. If you had worked at a place that does press releases you would know that it is standard procedure to try and never do announcements on Fridays or the weekend. Its not a worry at all, in fact it would be a bigger worry if our club did announcements on days that you are not supposed to do them. The club is run poorly enough from a marketing point of view without ignoring basic rules like that.

Why is that Ellewood ? Just interested, and can't think of a reason, that's all.

you make a good point , but Man Utd have thrown a lot of cash in the air today , though you could argue Man Utd news wouldnt get lost on any day

A higher percentage of people read the news while they are at work or are commuting to and from work. So the best news days are Monday - Friday. Every "story" or "announcement" has a "life span". A "life span" being the amount of days that a story will continue to be news worthy. Most things one can announce has a life span of just about 3 days. Your goal is to maximize your "good" press and minimize your "bad" press. So the "death" of your story or announcement needs to be on a work day (weekday) in order to maximize that good press. This means that,

Good press
Death date Friday, Thursday or Wednesday
Birth date Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday

This allows maximum positive life span. You also need to make sure that you release things before printing. So Monday needs to be really early Monday etc.

Bad press
Death date on Sunday
Birth date on Friday

Also you need to make sure that you release things AFTER printing so that even a Friday announcement is harder for people to find out about on a work day.

The internet has made things like doing things before printing less valuable but they are still valuable non the less. Even bad stories that occur after people have been at work for a few hours are better than a story being on the news before people sit down at their computer and surf the net for a bit.
 
If they release info as soon as they have it, they're wrong.

If they hang onto info, and don't let people know what's going on, they're wrong.

Long's signing was announced on a Friday, the other three were on a Wednesday, I don't think we give a **** what day it is, we'll announce it as soon as it happens.

Though the principals you mention are traditionally the perceived wisdom, the internet has made it far less important and with the increased use of social media, it's almost impossible to keep these things quiet for three days anyway.

seems like its nothing at all to do with Calendar dates or any other witchcraft -

All down to paperwork not being completed as things need ironing out at Norwich end and their part time solicitors .

Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't about either a sell on clause to TWS or league position / relegation clause .

Not really, you have to renew by next week to secure your regular seat and so far we believe that less than 10,000 people have done so. As we get nearer the cut-off date, I expect a flurry of renewals, but we'll still be way behind last season.
 
If they were intentionally holding this off I can only assume its fr ticket sales, the excitement in seeing a big signing for a big fee might spur some to sporadically renew or whatever but after having the weekend to think about it may change their little minds.

Just a thought will they officially not be able to announce the finalisation of the transfer of Snodgrass until the transfer window opens on 1st July - ie Tuesday?

Maybe it was different with Livermore as he had been here on loan.
