My dad's doctor told him to have a Guiness before bed recently (well about 7 or 8 years ago) to help him sleep.

    Talking about super market fights.

I needed to go to the 24 hour Tesco in Hanley, late at night/early morning.

I parked up and was walking towards the trolleys when I noticed two fellas of the black variety by the trolley stands. One was standing up and the other was sitting on the smaller trollies. I obviously needed a small trolley.

I thought "here we go" and all the scaremongering stories that si has told of the people of the black persuausion came flooding to the fore. Pictures of knives, acid and rape flashed through my mind, my arsehole puckered up and my heart beat in my chest as I prepared to fight off these immigrants from far away lands, callously treating our British trollies in such a demeaning manner. As I drew closer, my fists at the ready I realise I was wearing v a thobe. **** I thought I won't be able to.kick these varmints and will have to rely solely on hand speed and good old fashion British spirit. (Not English as I was in fact born abroad and therefore am for all extents and purposes and immigrant).

Anyway I digress. So I strolled up to said in need of asbos and maintained a steady gaze. Showing no fear I walked forward, adding a small gait to my step to show fearlessness. One of the bandits looked at me then looked at his mate, on the trolley, laughed and...

Told his mate to get off the trollies , which he did and got me the trolley whilst being very apologetic and was a thoroughly nice British chap. A student in the local university no less and made me proud to be a fellow immigrant

    Si lied

I wish I hadn't started. However I do think maybe the odd one without the **** I went through would have been a better option

I stopped enjoying it in the end.

Do you think the whole "glad I quit" is a social thing? I don't necessarily mean you personally but generally. I know loads of ex smokers and it's like the hipster beard or the done thing because it's fashionable.

I had some American cigs once. A local furniture store was selling them illegally for a few quid for a 200 pack of 20's

    Nasty

I agree with you though, I put on about a stone in the last year since quitting! :(
Went on a peanut butter binge.
I felt horrible for the first two months.

Thing is, you can find a nicotine supplement in the form of patches, gum, vapes etc etc.
But what people fail to realise is that as well as being addicted to nicotine, your body has also become addicted to Carbon monoxide, Saltpeter and all the other ****, and there isnt a patch or a vape for that. The withdrawals were fine for the first week, but the second and third weeks, I felt ****ing awful, like I wanted to die.

Nah I just enjoy not waking up feeling like **** now and having to go stand outside in the rain in the winter etc. Lots of benefits for me personally, not to mention the financial benefit.

You’ll get there mate. I smoked for probably as long as you’ve been alive and I managed it. It’s horrible at times, I know. I would have killed some **** for a *** on a few occasions.

Now, many years later, I don’t even think about. It never crosses my mind. In fact, I can smell it from a mile away, it’s then you realise how disgusting you must have smelt yourself.

It must be very addictive and for very little reward, it seems to put people into a daze where they have no care for how it smells because there is nothing nice about that smell.

Honestly, you do not smell it when you are a smoker, well you do, but it doesnt smell half as bad.
Now I have been a non smoker for over a year, when people walk in after smoking, it makes me want to gag!
Cant believe I walked around smelling like that.

I kinda guessed how it would go, so skipped the whole lot. Was there any mention of how much money smokers pay in taxes?
