I was taken to City for the first time by my dad back in the early 60's as I'm sure a lot of us older ones were. I was hooked the minute I walked into the ground for the first time. He and his brother eventually stopped going when it was obvious that we were only going one way under Terry Neill a few years later, like thousands of others. I kept it up because I loved it.
We then lost a generation or more in the mid 70's right through the Dol*n and Fish era up to Robinson taking over, and let's be honest the crowds were not great then either.
It is that lost generation who's kids and grandkids are todays potential fans, It is that lost generation who should be buying Hull City replica shirts for their kids to wear.
But the facts are the club is built on sand. Our core support is fickle.
Even during the glory days of Sir Adam and Peter Taylor the club were giving tickets away by the shed load to entice the fans back.
So where have they gone ?
Where have the Premier League lot gone ? Didn't we gain any fans from the most successful time in the clubs history in the same way us old crusties got the bug under the Britton/Waggy and Chilton era ?
The answer is in our own hands.

Hilarious.
My father took me to watch Hull City. It was a Cup game and the ticket was my Christmas present. That clear enough for you Alan ****ing Carr ?

Many of them still are, they just sit in the East Stand now and pay peanuts, rather than giving the Allams £50 a game.

That's what happens when you piss your customers off, they stop giving you loads of their hard earned.

So they are enjoying the concessions many of the fans boycotted until they got.......but still don't go ?
 
Football like anything else is a product that people decide to buy or not. There may be several reasons for their decision. Often finances play a great part. Some can afford it others not. When the product is high quality like the premier league some buy into it and will pay out. If the standard of the product drops they stop buying it. Others really love the product and will always buy it even if the quality is low. Often it just becomes a habit. Give the product away for free to kids and they may start to love it and keep coming back. There are so many reasons that you do or do not buy the product and that’s why marketing is so important. Look at Ratners CEO if you don’t think a CEO can destroy faith in the product.

It was he 'but still don't go' bit that made no sense in response to what I'd posted.

The Allams have pissed off so many people that were paying £50 a game, that they almost all now pay for a regular ticket or don't go. You can attempt to post diversions, or make excuses, but it won't change the fact that it was a monumental **** up.

Unfortunately my Dad died young. I never got to experience that magical moment with him. A friend's Dad took me along. Still got that 'Bobby Robson' moment!

The 'but still don't go' referred to those who boycotted because the concessions were removed but still don't attend when they were re introduced.
There are many factors why those paying £50 a game in the PL and to be part of the Premier Club don't attend today. From the one's I know the reason they don't go anymore has nothing to do with cost or the owners its simply because we are no longer a Premier League club.
If you were a true supporter, and those still attending are, then paying 'peanuts' ( you words) to sit in the same seats they were paying £50 for is quite a bonus isn't it ?

So if you've been going for over 50 yrs but stopped when the Allams turned ****ish, like myself, are no longer true supporters?

Previous owners were ****ish from the off, I'm sure future owners will be too. They could be Olympic class ****s, but they ain't stopping me attending, I'm too much of a stubborn **** to let them, and my line in the sand is somewhere in Abalos Undae! :emoticon-0100-smile

We're talking about when AP was in charge, we weren't in the bloody Premier League.
 
I see all of this in a different vein.

I never liked Adam Pearson. His legacy at two clubs (us and Derby) is not something that I believe should be forgotten.

Sorry if that goes against the grain but that’s the way I have felt for a long time.

Would I choose him over the Allams? Honestly, I think on a personal level, yes, but as a club owner, I am not sure if I would trust him above someone completely new.

As for fickle support, I probably was in that group. Football is not a passion, Hull City became one late in my life, when I stopped playing Hockey. I do not consider myself or anyone else a good or bad supporter.
