More a case of the profits of Hull Telephones being used. It would not have been built using ratepayers/council tax money. Taxpayers money goes to the government not the council.

A lot of games were played away from the home clubs stadium. They did it to minimise travelling playing somewhere between the two clubs and often played two games the same day. Decided by the league and nothing to do with the SMC.

I just glanced at the fixtures, Hull FC played Wakefield at St Helens and Huddersfield at Warrington, that's increasing the travelling. There must be a reason for the games being played there, but it seems very odd.

I'm sure the loyal FC army would have made the long trek down the M62.

Yes, amazingly not long after the owner of FC was prepared to accept £250,000 for the Boulevard AND the club the Boulevard was valued at £750,000 to be bought as a community asset. By an amazing coincidence this was what FC owed and this enabled FC to move into the Boulevard debt free. Pat Doyle once declared, when City were struggling, that the council couldn't help and sport played no part in his agenda. When David Lloyd floated the idea of moving FC to Leicester to ground share he then declared he would move heaven and earth to keep FC in Hull.
Today's quiz question " Which of the 3 professional clubs in Hull did Pat Doyle support?"

Maybe I should tell my landlord that I'm working away 5 nights out of 7. Will I get a rent reduction?

Do you think it had anything to do with the fact that the stadium has been closed for 14 months with very, very little income coming in ?

Because apart from parts of Hull rugby league is seen as a minority sport. It was de-categorised alongside table tennis and all-in wrestling a couple of years back and the level of government funding reflects its popularity.

Are you one of SMC's fifth columnists ?

All the other clubs were in the same boat, it was nothing exceptional for the Kcom.

Other clubs big and small have funded the building and upkeep of their stadia, Hull City and Hull FC were fortunate to get a brand new stadium built for them. No building costs or interest to pay on loans of money to build it, all the SMC has to do is maintain it.

No I'm just a supporter of Hull City and no-one else. The SMC do maintain the stadium. The complaints were asked for before the game was even played by Sir Adam. I've been around long enough to know that even if the stadium was in squeaky clean condition, after Sir Adams whinging, the eggchasers would have found something to moan about and the HDM will have headlined with it. It politics, pure and simply, nothing to do with a bit of bird **** and low water pressure, can't you see that ?

The most important question is are the mirrors in the ladies sorted out? That was item number one on the agenda when fans groups could put their concerns across in meetings with the club.

It had absolutely nothing to do with the stadium being closed, it's been getting tatty for years.

If I bought a pair of jeans off you would they be still like new over 20 years later, even if they'd had loads, and loads of wear ?
Its got everything to do with the stadium being empty for 14 months. If City had of been at home on Monday with a crowd in do you think the HDM headlines would have been the same ?
Its politics and nothing more then the **** stirring that Sir Adam publicly asked for.

What a ridiculous analogy, a football stadium should have a rather longer lifespan than a pair of jeans.

It's not an FC issue, plenty of us have been saying on here for years that the place is getting really tatty.

Tell you what OLM, never miss an opportunity to have a dig at the club, you haven't missed one yet so keep up the good work, especially on a day like today.
And the principle is the same. Jeans or a building. Things of age show signs of wear , it's a fact of life.

Not a dig at the club, a dig at the owners.

I hate to think what state your house is in if you think it doesn't need maintaining and all the paint peeling off is just 'a fact of life'.

Incidentally, if you want to pay me £46m for a pair of jeans, I'll send you a new pair every month and you'll never need to worry about maintaining them. <ok>

I genuinely cannot believe people are defending the Allams because of some petty revelry with a club that doesn't even play the same sport.

The Allams own the SMC, therefore have the responsibility to maintain the stadium. If anyone thinks that stadium was in acceptable condition on Monday night I worry for them. I wouldn't have taken that much to hire a cleaning company to come in and deep clean the stadium.

When I was last there for the Leeds game last year the stadium looked tired. There was paint pealing of the girders and leaks in the roof.

It's a disgrace what Allams have done to the stadium.
