I raised this on another thread....can Virgil remain captain. Obvious answer is no...but would the club want to slap him in the face or encourage him to give his best. Perhaps he wouldn't want it anyway. Do we make Davis the captain on the field as well as his other role? Maya? Forster....because he is guaranteed to be on the field most games?

Cor, that's a tough one for the start of the day! I 100% agree with LS above; hate goalkeepers being captain unless he's THE stand out obvious, which FF is not. VD? That's really MP's call on so many factors & probably most important being, what's the dressing room like. For all we know, everything might be hunky dory on the shop floor & VD only has a problem with the board. If that's the case, then it "could" be a good idea to allow him to captain once he's back in the team but there is possibly an issue regarding what message that sends out to the media & fans - needs careful consideration (just look at the comments on here). I've always loved a CB or CM being captain; yep old school, as he can see virtually the whole of the game in front of him. Captain for me needs to be a leader though & that means you need to know the character of the man. I'd love Romeu to be the one. Probably needs another season at SFC but who knows.

A difficult one........for me, my head says no but.........do we really want to humiliate him by taking away The captaincy? Is there anyone apart from Forster? Davis perhaps? Cedric perhaps........hmm not an easy one.

I think we only gave him to captaincy as part of a deal for him to sign the 6 year contract anyway, he's surely broken that deal.

Who to give it to instead is a tough one as we don't have a lot of guaranteed starters. Romeu is the obvious candidate but I have no idea if he is a leader. I would choose Yoshi but he might not play much. Bertrand?

No he shouldn't be (and I'm more on the forgive and forget side of the fence than most too).

Saying that, I won't lose any sleep if he is.

Was he not just team captain and Davis club captain? For me Davis stays captain and if he's not selected give it to Sammy the Saint he will never leave us!!!!

I may be naieve here, but is on the field captain really anything more than glorified heads or tails picker? Don't really see the issue with him being captain or not

We have managed without Virgil as captain since January, and I don't see why he should be rewarded for his antics by being restored to that position. My top 3 preferences for the job, depending on selection:
1. Romeu, a natural leader on the pitch.
2. Yoshida, has done the job already, as well as leading his country.
3. Ward-Prowse, maybe not for a couple of years but he's nearly there.
