    No. He is not committed to the club. Even if he stays he is clearly now thinking of the next window and failing that the summer.

    The captaincy should be given to someone who is loyal to the club like Davis. This is going to be a major problem in the future as there are no longer that many players who have the club (not just ours) at heart and thus captains might be new signings etc.

    Davis gets my vote at the moment. Despite needing to be upgraded he is still the heartbeat of the team when they play well and he is the most grounded in my eyes. Captain of NI and Southampton.

    The flaw in that plan LL is that by Xmas he'll be dreaming of the January transfer window if we don't get him integrated back in. Sure, make him work for it, but Xmas really?

    I appreciate that this comment is in blue, but it leads to a completely different thread (that I have mentioned before, a long time ago): Saints always (well, nearly always) kick off towards The Northam end. Are such niceities as deciding which direction to play in determined by the toss of a coin? If so, Saints have either got a two-headed coin (but once or twice a season someone calls 'tails'), or the opposition simply choose whether to kick off first or second, and the direction of play is not in question. Except sometimes the direction of kick off is changed, but under what circumstances?

    Does anyone actually have 'inside information' on the decision taken when a coin is tossed (at any level of football)? Is there a 'choice of choices', either to kick off first half or second half, or to decide which direction to kick off? Maybe I need to get out more :)

    Yes, I have wondered about that. It seems to be a convention to allow the home team to kick off from their preferred half, but not strictly enforced as the returning of the ball if play is stopped for an injury, for example.

    Usually the home team kick towards "their end" second half in the myth that the home fans suck the ball into the net. Sadly, "out end" is the Chapel and there is more chance of a knitting needle puncturing the ball than sucking it into the net.

    This is why I'd love away fans to be on a side and the whole of the Northam for home fans.
