Preston went for the relatively unknown in Ryan Lowe. No money and one place outside play offs.I don't think right now would be a good time to change Manager, and who, that's any good, is going to want to come here if we sack Pearson given the financial constraints ?
About the only name I can think of would be Sean Dyche and there's no guarantee he would be approached by the board, or be interested in the job if he was.
If we look to be in serious danger of relegation in the New Year, then maybe I'll change my mind.
Other clubs do that too, but it doesn't always work.Preston went for the relatively unknown in Ryan Lowe. No money and one place outside play offs.
Any manager coming in would know we’ve no money and would for now have to work with who we have.
Dyche though hated his time with us, so I suspect I’ve more chance of getting ID’d in a pub than him coming here,
I completely agree, the only thing I’d add is we MUST stay up. I get twitchy when championship status looks in doubt. He has to get us more stable at the back.I'm still in the 'keep Nige' camp but it's crucial things improve rapidly, we have got the world cup break coming up, that should give for injuries to heal, sickness in the camp to be cured, egos and reputations to be repaired and serious improvements in coaching and trust to be resumed.
The old times of volume signings, mass expenditure, trading players to recover the family silver and camouflage wasted losses are over, that business model failed and MA &LJ with it, initial success was followed by OOC players, gut busting , long, expensive contracts, hangers on, followed by a calamitous £38.4m debt, then a covid 19 pandemic.
The guy has had 2 years nearly, had to make cheapskate signings or freebies for us to survive, business wise he has done well for the club but his attitude is arrogant, personal traits annoying, he needs some financial backing to bring in some quality, if things carry on as they are it's obvious he has got to go, the choice lays with SL give him some financial space on a moderate scale or the boot, it's as simple as that.

I think the league table is a bit more accurate now than when we had the discussion a week or two ago..I completely agree, the only thing I’d add is we MUST stay up. I get twitchy when championship status looks in doubt. He has to get us more stable at the back.
I don't want to ressurrect the LJ discussion but there was never any threat of promotion either.I agree with most of that but;
1. Under the LJ reign, there was no threat of relegation.
2. Nige has said on numerous occasions that even if he had the funds he wouldn’t go all out to sign players and rather it came from the academy (which I agree with by the way, unless is was a specific player that would be the difference)
In which case it’s down to Nige to get the best of what we’ve got and get them playing at a decent and more important a consistent manner.. which as it stands he is failing to do..
I think the league table is a bit more accurate now than when we had the discussion a week or two ago..![]()

It’s accurate now, then it was accurate then, remind me how many points have we won since then?I think the league table is a bit more accurate now than when we had the discussion a week or two ago..![]()
But others have, that had played fewer games, that’s why it’s more accurate now..It’s accurate now, then it was accurate then, remind me how many points have we won since then?
Rotherham won at Sheffield U last night, they are 14th, had they lost they’d be below us. The table is so tight a couple of wins makes a heck of a difference, likewise a couple of losses.
Our form shows more to what’s below us rather than what’s above..Yep - we’re only 8 points off the play-offs!![]()
The seasons in question showed us above half way or around the playoffs..I don't want to ressurrect the LJ discussion but there was never any threat of promotion either.
