It's not just us by a long way. Three quarters or more of the teams in the Championship could easily be relegation contenders if they go on a bad run after the break. It's so tight. Nige is no mug. He's been in the game long enough to know it's a results driven position.
I voted for NP to stay. I've never been fully confident that he has what it takes to sort us out. Yes, there have been some good signs - but just when I start to feel positive, we go crap again. We have been inconsistent - but rather worryingly we are starting to be consistently - crap! Knowing the utter absolute debacle that took place to appoint a replacement when LJ left, I think we should stick with him at least until the end of the season - unless relegation becomes a serious possibility of course. Anything, absolutely anything to avoid that.
you should only judge things on a level playing field a team with games in hand or playing next day can always give a true indication of the status quo when they play the same number of games as all others LOOK AT pne bottom of table after 6 or so ames had scored probly 1 goal conceeded maybe 1 check for detail ..
I always work on 2 wins / [ 6pts ] as a definition of postion [ potential] CURRENTLY 27pts is above possible relegation zone and 25 points is potential top 6 ............ so 9 teams up for top 6 and 13 teams in mix for relegation zone 4 of them can go either way!!!
Never mind, Hibs have lost 4 out of their last 5 league games and are plummeting down the Scots Premiership, so LJ will be getting yet another P45 very soon
Just out of interest, Lincoln City played Bristol Rovers at the minimal in mid September and beat them 6-3 but their gate wa 8078, didn't they do well.
Ffs!! It’s like a broken record on here re LJ!! Have we all got to die before people stop having a pop at the bloke!!
The never ending upheaval was forecast when Junior was appointed HC. Together with the worst £50,000 ever spent on a City player when his father rescued him from Hearts reserves. Oh, and the answer to your question - Yes.
Show me anyone that’s said that.. Some said we were progressing. Some said Nige he’s turned us around Some on here said we are in good hands and heading for the prem!
Redprintt “Junior's at it again, 5 defeats from his last 6 games...........but ffs.........this time it's in a Pub league.” With pub players..
This is a difficult decision to make but for me NP has not improved Bristol City one iota during his tenure. I know Covid and our financial constraints have not helped our situation but eventually we have to put all of that behind us and move on, and currently we are not achieving anything other than creating discontent. When I look at the players we have on our books I think we are luckier than some in that they are good quality but making a decent team from them seems all but impossible. That part of the equation is solely down to the manager, and no one else, and that makes me wonder if Nigel Pearson has some issues in dealing with these particular bunch of players that can't be overcome? Nigel is no fool but perhaps his time and tactics have reached their peak and it's time for us to make the unwanted change before the situation turns really nasty for all parties. I wonder if Lansdown has approached the players separately for their views on where the obvious problem lies and if indeed Nigel and his tactics have created an insurmountable problem? The manager is always the one to get it in the neck and given that the remit given to NP was to supposedly change the entire scenario in which Bristol City approached their daily business, I might suggest that it has been a failure. Over many years Steve Lansdown has been a very patient owner, for which he deserves full credit, but there has to be a breaking point for all managerial tenures, and I feel we are so close to a major decision having to be made. We certainly don't want to go down the dangerous route of firing our manager without having a firm replacement already in the bag, and you will have already noticed how quickly some recent appointments have been made following a dismissal. Surely a loss against Watford in our next match must take us close to the edge of change, but will our owner have paid due diligence to the task, or will he allow the situation to fester even more which could create such a toxic environment that nobody in their right mind would want the job? Brutal honesty tells me that we are an outfit destined to ply our trade in a mediocre manner without taking any unnecessary risks that might upset the apple cart and that credo has to come right from the top. How sad it is that here we are yet again saying all the same things we did last year, and many years before, and yet still we are discussing whether or not we could get relegated. If there is any possibility of some trading to be done in January then I would suggest that we get new blood before the end of this year to allow them adequate time to review our needs and act on them before it is too late. There is nothing about Nigel's demeanour at the moment that gives me any confidence he is up to the task and, quite frankly, I think he has both lost the plot and the desire to get us back on track, and if the players have lost confidence in his man-management and tactical skills then a change definitely needs to be made immediately. Truly another sad state of affairs that nobody needs or wants.
I think quite a few has said that Nige with his experience hasn't done any better and also disappointed with his defending background that our defending is sh!te!
I would certainly prefer LJs league positions - successive top half table finishes and genuine playoff contenders for most of the seasons. Look, the table is VERY tight and a couple of wins could see us back with the chasing pack again, but we need to sort out those performances.
