Should Newcastle replace Eddie Howe

Why would you say they were woeful signings? Wissa scored 19 league goals last season and Elanga had been great at Forest. They've both just been big let downs, which wasn't expected.

Likewise saying Woltermade was never going to work out makes no sense because he was on fire when he started and has just fallen off the cliff since Xmas.

I don't fault the signings so much, the game management looks like the key thing now, which isn't there and hasn't been for a while.
Wissa was essentially in a strike partnership with Mbuemo. For us he is isolated alone up front...was never going to work.

As for Elanga. He played as a counter attacking winger who wasnt expected to pass the ball or do anything intricate whatsoever, for a side who sat back for most of their matches. We need to be on the front foot and break down those sides that sit back against us, and as we have seen Elanga is useless in that role and will not improve.

You could argue hindsight is 20-20 but aren't we supposed to have scouts and coaches that identify these things before signings are made? so two completely unsuitable players for how we play, or should i say played.

Wissa was a one off season and his age made it a stupid signing as no sell on value, something we can't afford with our restrictions. Elanga had less goals and assists than the man he was brought to replace as first choice, Murphy. Man Utd didn't rate him either. I said they were terrible signings at the time and I have been proven correct.

Woltemade scored with practically every shot he had in that initial period. He was still totally isolated during that period also. He requires players around him and running off him (something Stuttgart and Germany provided), which will never happen in Howe's system. I think Woltemade is decent, but he will never work under Howe.

I agree on your third point totally.

Interesting, I'm a poll in The Mag 76% wanted him to say, looks like the general populus likes him more than this forum:

Did they go to the farm and ask the sheep, because that is certainly not what I'm hearing/seeing talking to match going fans.

Depends on which poll you look at.... Ultimately he's now under pressure and usually once this happens the end isn't too far away.

Everyone is entitled to a view, but he people who've been highlighting issues all season and taking abuse for it were of course correct...

Is Howe still trudging on. Oh well guess nothing moves quickly in NUFC land. Onto the Arse then, 3 or 4 nil at least and Howe saying it's uncharacteristic of us..........

Arsenal is a shop window, players will give it a go. Thats highly characteristic.

Woltemade still scores with every shot…… problem is I’ve never seen the ****er hit one clean shot all season

It was before the Bournemouth match apparently, so I think that % may have dropped since.

Although not to as much as it would have been had they surveyed on here, with Roly wanting Howe sacked in Sept 24 and replaced with a certain Ruben Amorim, and GG sacking him every second we're not ahead in a game.

Have to say that my experience is the exact opposite. Lots of match day fans expressing concern but just an odd one here and there wanting EH out.

And when I say 'odd one' I mean 'ODD ONE' .

Let's not forget the clamour on here from certain posters wanting EH out in October 2024 and thereafter. Yes, the same season we won the LC and qualified for Europe. Not saying we will qualify for Europe this season but EH has turned things round before.

From my end it's the exact opposite from what you say.

Never been a top level manager and never will be.

Yes, when he’s had one game a week. It’s just not good enough, mate. It wouldn’t be good enough under Ashley. It’s been an entire year of regression.

I get the sentiment, but that’s all it is. What everyone can see is ****ing dire. I read about this “we demand a team that tries” bollocks - that was never about the team, it was about Newcastle United under Ashley being insipid from top to bottom. No roadmap, crap transfers, awful football, etc. When Rafa joined everyone got behind it even though the football was turgid, because he had no choice. When you look at this starting point myth for Howe, he has however anyone dicks about with numbers spent £750m to never beat Bournemouth, to lose twice to Sunderland, to concede 7 vs Barca, to (most likely) twice fail to qualify for Europe. This is a season that has Manure about 12th at one point, and without playing well to the point of losing to us, they’re third - it’s not even a difficult ****ing season to do well in, save for 1st & 2nd.

We’ve been over it time and again - how on earth can anyone excuse him for playing Nick in midfield?! For paying what he did for bang average squad filler? For choosing Nick Pope ffs! Honestly it’s far more of a mystery that he got a league cup, it’s more like the Wigan FA Cup or Leicesters PL than a normal standard being set based on what my eyes tell me. It’s baffles that anybody paying real money is still behind the bloke, which you say they mostly are. For me it’s false pride, as if wanting ambition is outrageous because, well, at least it’s not Ashley. We have to somehow not be like other fans, cos they’re not real because they want success, and so we’re better than them. It’s all just a load of crap. Players, managers, pass through the club - if they’re doing well, like Howe has, like Bruno is, laud them and enjoy it. But it never lasts, so when it turns its abso-****ing-lutely A-OK to demand better.

Honestly, anyone thinking we should stick with him based on all available evidence is beyond my comprehension.

Look on the bright side Roly, at least your new job has cheered you up... <laugh>

Interesting summary of Howe at Newcastle, the Wikipedia and AI summary are somewhat different.

The cult are trying to hang in there, that's for sure <laugh>

I think they'll get their way, sadly.

Be interested to know if people who are behind Howe also had a lot of sympathy for folks like Ange and Ten Haag. For me, when idiots like Dublin, Merson and Waddle come out in absolute defense of a manager, you know he's been abysmal. It's almost unfathomable how we've managed to go this far backwards, this fast.

At B'mth, Howe went from 9th (highest finish) to 12th, 14th finally 18th. The season before he took them down, he bought Solanke, Clyne, Mepham, Lloyd Kelly (lols), Jack Stacey, Billing, H. Wilson and his ONLY foreign purchase that Summer was Danjuma. That sack of British-based medioctiry cost him £75m. Yet here we are, having (hopefully) narrowly escaped relegation after his latest splurge on PL "experience" ready to give him yet another pot of money.
