I'm glad he said that coz he's right. He has to get this group motivated and playing, Coz this could be all he has 'til January.
£15 m buys a decent defender nowadays, what planet is Short on ? it looks like it is too late now, premier league players playing like half wits, and I will tell them that to their faces if I see them let them live on £145 a fortnight like me and I do more than them as I buy a season card each season putting something back into the club. There has to new rules brought in like if the team lose no player gets payed. The club has been run shambolic over the last 50 years, there should have been a quality manager in place with a 5 year plan, and ONLY quality players brought in, it can be done look at Man c, Arsenal, Chelsea so why have we not done it?. Arsenal were playing in front of 10,000 less than us years ago, Chelsea still less than us so what the hell is going on ?. They will play better for a couple of games then just as you think we have turned the corner, bang back to normal. 2003 all over again, it proves loads of owners are in it for the money, which pisses me off as Short is reputedly worth £4 billion.
The manager changes have all been made at the right time - asking for Advocaat to be sacked would make most of us fans look like idiots though! He was our choice - Short's choice, Congerton's choice! Who do we blame if the fans turn on him and want him sacked?
I'm not ready to call for him to be sacked after just 2 games Marcus. My earlier comment was about a club being in crisis, not over these first 2 games but for a much longer period of time. To me, the club is lacking direction. There doesn't seem to be a 3yr plan, a 5yr plan, etc, etc. We stumble on from 1 crisis to the next, sacking managers every season as if that will solve all of the clubs problems, whatever they may be. Both PDC and Poyet have alluded to "problems" at the club once they've left. I don't believe sacking Old Eggnog will solve anything at the minute. Thats not to say he won't walk if he doesn't get his way in the next couple of weeks. At the back of my mind I keep wondering how things would have been if Big Sam had come here in the summer. I wonder how he would have dealt with the old guard at the club, if they are indeed one of the significant problems in the first team. A pointless waste of a few seconds of brain-time maybe. But those thoughts keep turning up.
I know mate not really what I'm getting at! But I don't know where we can go from here! Someone mentioned on another thread, Bruce, MON, Di Canio, Poyet and now Advocaat - 6 players that have played for the last 4 of them are JOS, Catts, Brown, Larsson, Johnson, Fletcher. Only the last 2 didn;t play for Bruce as well. Whatever these issues are, we are all paying for them. Not the players, not the managers, us fans who LOVE this club and can;t stop loving the club. When Bruce was there I used to lose sleep because of it! Lie awake on a night thinking how it should be much better! Same with just about every season except the Poyet cup final one! I thoroughly enjoyed that season - best we've had for a long time IMO.
I said almost exactly the same thing yesterday elsewhere! That I was almost in shock at the match performance reports on saturday night and just numb yesterday. I haven't a clue what the answers are either, though I think most of us on here are agreed about the impact of some of the squad, as you've said above. How we solve them is another matter. Not sure we can in the short term.
