Spurs fan in peace.

Harry Kane isn't a dirty player. However that was a red card challenge.

However, you may remember Shearer and Rooney being free to commit assaults on the pitch without being sent off. It comes with the England captaincy. You get loads of lovely advertising money and refs let you do what you want.

What goes around........

I haven't seen Rooney chase someone down for about 6 years and shearer hasn't been around for longer. The games moved on since then and it should have been a red.
Anyways it will probs work in our favour sometime this season. I'm not bitter, I expected a loss and we got one. When your lot woke up in second half you looked like a team that will definitely be top 4 this season. You couldn't even tell walker had left with your young RB

Wembley. If it wasn't for Wembley.......

He stood on his ankle deliberately. Of course it was a red card. He's a ****witted, ******ed thug. That's why we couldn't believe you'd paid £15m for him :)

Shelvey got us promoted and will keep us up this season. And it was £12m, not £15m. He's a knobhead, but he's our knobhead, like Joey Barton was. He just needs to cut out the petulant/nasty side of his game. He's clearly working on other areas, he's worked on his fitness all summer in order to be ready for the season ahead. Those calling for him to be sold for this need to give their head a shake.

Thing is, Barton was a likeable knobhead. Shelvey, well, is just a knobhead

Let's be honest, Shelvey got sent off because he's Jonjo Shelvey. It was incredibly stupid/avoidable, but petulant rather than dangerous. Kane stayed on the pitch because he's Harry Kane. If someone like Costa had done that challenge, he'd have walked. If Alli had stood on Shelvey, it wouldn't have been a red. Nobody can tell me otherwise.

Referee's are getting worse, the standard is dropping constantly as we saw on a host of occasions last season. The penalty decision against Liverpool just another example; we're talking about game changing decisions and right from the first weekend the officials are getting big calls wrong. Referee's have to start coming from the ex-player community.

Meh. Shelvey's was a red. It's like hitting another player in the face. It doesn't matter if it was hard or dangerous, it's a red. Kane's challenge could have been a red. A few year's ago it would have been legal. You can't say that awarding a yellow was wrong. As for the standard of refereeing, I haven't seen any indication that it's going downhill. It's just that the amount and quality of the slow motion replays is improving. The quality of analysis coming from ex-player pundits doesn't give me any confidence that they would be any improvement.

You're seriously defending Shelvey's sending off? The ref did his job; it wasn't him 'wanting to get involved'. Are you just on the wind up these days because you come out with some guff at times?

Now now toys back in the pram General. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think you need to reread first of all before getting on your high horse. I quite clearly mentioned two different things with regard to Shelvey and refs getting involved.

The first thing I also did was condemn Shelvey - he is a moron. Under today's rules it is a sending off. If you do that and the ref sees it you are going. There was no need to be so petulant and stupid. Why because Ali thru the ball away. The lad is always pulling this ****. It won't stop and it's why he needs replaced. When he is not having an easy time of it like he got last year this is what happens. He is one of those who is probably somewhere between the two divisions in terms of level.

I personally don't think trodding on someone is a red but I can see why they've made the rules that way. I just laugh when I see stamp - I'd happily provide a physical demonstration for anyone who doesn't know the difference. It's not even down to not having played the game - it's more the general warping of reality by the media and people just going with it. There is a massive difference between a stamp and a trod. I've had both done to me.

I stand by what I said about Mariner. Alli and Lascelles basically had a firm tackle and then a little barge and a laugh. Rather than let it run and allow the physical battle to ensue, we have the overbearing ref wanting to get involved pulling them both in for a word, stopping the game. Needless referee involvement. All these stoppages for injuries and getting players off the pitch - needless. Half the time they get up and are sprinting for a ball two minutes later - the game has gone soft and it is spoiling the spectacle. If I wanted to watch the vballet, I'd pay to watch the ballet.

So, er yeah, I think it's you who is talking guff

It is a bit soft now but "going for the ball" is irrelevant it's how you do it. Kane was reckless and dangerous and injured our player putting him out of the game. It was a red clearly but showed how refs are influenced by who the player is before making a decision. Shelvey was stupid and dirty and also deserved to go. I like a harder game too but there is hard and there is reckless and there is downright dirty. Kane and Shelvey come under the last two.
I know this isn't new from what we have seen of Shelvey but is it just me doesn't remember him having loads of red cards before coming here?

I can't agree on Kane. It's a challenge I'd want my players to make. He got it wrong and fouled. Got booked. I don't think there would have been such a hullabaloo about it had we not Shelvey acting like twat and getting red.

Andre Mariner has been recommended for demotion several times by Keith Hackett. Widely regarded as inept. Mike Jones too. Two referees that deserve a slap.

And that isn't a red ?

Under the current rules and the way the ref interpret yes it's a red. I'm just saying for me personally it's not a red. I accept though, if you let one go you may see a lot of players starting to do it which is not what you want. It's just more the word "stamp" being used I find hilarious

I thought it was his average performance levels not being good enough for his role in the team when playing in the Premier League?

Both. He wanted to fight some of our fans in the car park at the end of his last appearance for us. The guy is a bellend <cheers>

Read your post above. Fair dues.

Maybe i'm a new age fan but i prefer a soft game than a violent game. I'm not all for the pansy diving that goes on through a little bit of a contact but it annoys me ust as much when you get people pulling shirts and deliberately fouling people when they have gotten away and it being called 'clever little fouls'

Kanes tackle he went right through the back of the man. He was never going to win the ball and he's now injured leujune for a good while. That is exactly why the foul from behind has been ruled out. I'm all for a physical game but theres being physical and diving in to leave one on someone

As for deliberately treading on Alli, thats not normal (he didn't do it by accident) just like spitting isnt normal or biting someones shoulder isnt normal.

If someone did that in real life or in a sunday match game there'd definitely be a punch up.
