You can't bank goodwill mate.

He's a businessman with zero allegiance to Sunderland or the NE.

When he's gone he'll never be seen north of Leicester ever again.
If he stuffs up this "once in a lifetime" opportunity for SAFC and long suffering supporters, he might be wise not to go north of Leicester.

Trouble is, the actual reason for them walking will never come out. They won't bother getting into a war of words over it, they'll just walk. Donald will be the only one discussing it and will obviously frame it with him as an innocent party who did his best to get it over the line (which may or may not be true, we wouldn't know). He's got enough people in the fan base fawning over him that it'll be enough to prevent any widespread unrest, no one will criticise him fully without knowing the facts

If this is true I hope to god he realises that the investment /takeover is the best chance of us going up this season.

We're going to be 'drowning in ****' if we're here next season, half the squad gone, and with no TV money and dwindling ST sales meaning our overheads could potentially cripple us.

If he thinks he can do it by himself without investment he hasn't been watching the same team and the same club I have since relegation from the Championship.

I'm clinging to the hope that the fear of running an ailing club in the third division next season will drive him to sell up.

This hope flies in the face of the extended timescales its taken to get us here, if he plays hardball with the yanks with the club it'll be the club and the fans who lose out, and probably him too if we don't go up.

All supposition.
All guesswork.
Based on an assumption.

But christ I could do with some positive news on this like!

I've held off saying this but ...

... the only thing holding up the takeover is the man supposed to be arranging it.

it's certainly the impression i'm getting. but as long as it goes ahead and we have a new manager installed well before January, i think it will be ok.

Some bloke on RR lamenting the nastiness donald is experiencing and warning folk donald may walk and we end up with another short.
How horrible could that be.
Someone happy to throw north of 200m down the pan for safc. What a swine eh.

When you see the very overt bile and hatred homed in on Mike Ashley, our Stewart must be a delicate little flower

The problem is he won't walk, even when offered £50m he still wants to cling to the club

He wants the dosh.. of course he does. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth but that is the way of the world.
But to me he likes the limelight/centre stage.
We will get back the c'ship in time and probably the premier league. What better way to schmooze and network?
Maybe I'm just old and cynical

Folk need to get their priorities right here like. I've just read over 200 pages to catch up and not one mention of the monorail. Pathetic.

I suppose we're all in danger of appearing a little hypocritical.

We want the 'Dell money' to come flooding into 'our' club ...

... but don't want Donald to be too concerned with his own finances.

I'd hope there's a compromise because, as things stand, Donald is overseeing the worst period of the club's history.

If it transpires we've shunned 'investment', rejected Phillips and failed to get out of this league I think his stock will be rock bottom.

I just believe he's hanging onto the initial adoration he got. The fact the media were hanging onto his every word.
Beats being a humdrum insurance flogger .
He's adamant there's gold in them thar hills and he wants to dig it all out and hang out on the porch with the best looking sow in town.
I agree he is losing some of the goodwill he banked at the start and it's all his own fault. He has handled, the sacking, the takeover and new manager search unbelievably badly
