it think it will be like the unveiling of a new corporate logo everyone will just look and gawp and wonder who the fukk thought that up.

onwards and upwards is the only way.

To be honest I was never a fan of it, I liked the ship badge and the one before it but still accepted the new one, changing it is no big deal to me at the moment.

The stadium name is another one I'm not bothered about, I grew up with RP, and the SOL has never really sat that well with me - if the link is the pit call it Wearmouth.

And although I'm an old fart that rails against the 'commodification of everything' I understand the importance of money from naming rights at the moment - though funnily enough I'd find a name change more difficult from RP!

I think someone posted on RTG all the American team badges - all very simple with one main image that makes it and the club instantly recognisable. So I'm guessing a big black cat's head (panther) on a red and white shield, probably similar to Hull City's.

For the stadium, I reckon either a long-term sponsorship deal with a memorable brand or named after where it is (roughly). Nissan, Wearside, St Peter's, Roker. All Stadium or Arena.
