I was thinking that, but surely he'd have spoken to them before going to it? And equally he didn't really say anything that I'd imagine would get their backs up, it was a pretty bog standard "it's progressing, we'll tell you more when we can" type comment. Fingers crossed it's not caused any issues!

What bothers me, but only slightly, is that we're supposed to be moving into a new place where we look professional and serious.

Leaking info to fanzines, twittering and talking about the takeover in a Blackhill club looks 3rd rate imo.

I really admire Donald, and have praised him highly, but the current atmosphere has stagnated imo.

Agreed. As far as I know all Short owns is the hotel, not lots of land around it. He might be reluctant to sell (if we improve and/ or if any regeneration takes place around the stadium the value would increase) but I seriously doubt it would be a deal breaker and they could certainly complete the purchase of the club first then deal with Short over the hotel.

As for Sartori I don't think he can negotiate. I mentioned it over the road and might be proved wrong but I thought that Donald as the vast majority shareholder, was the one who made the decision and Sartori would have to sell for whatever Donald did. I don't think he's able to say "no, I want twice that for my shares". And tbh he's rich enough and disinterested enough that I doubt he'd want to kick up a fuss, probably just happy to make a slight profit and get out of it all together

Yeah I’m sure there’s a certain percentage over which the remaining shareholders have to sell up. It might be if 75% of shareholders agree to sell, then the remaining 25% have to sell compulsorily.

Someone on the SMB has suggested it might be 90% which would be a pain like. Surely Sartori wouldn't risk the whole deal over a couple of million quid mind, he only spent £3m so not like he can be expecting massive profits in that time (you'd bloody hope not anyway, if he ****s this up I'll go and live in Uruguay and vote against him at every election)

Absolutely.... The event had been planned a while. They are something that all branches can have and they've been going on since last season. They generally happen before home games or for branches further afield when we are playing near by the next day.

The aim of them is to promote the branches and grow the branch membership. For Consett, this worked as close to 50 old members and people on the fringes joined or rejoined the branch, pushing the membership close to 300. From a branch perspective, it was a huge success. It also heavily increased the social media presence for the branch. Job done from the club's and branch perspective.

People are looking into it far too much. There was never going to be a groundbreaking announcement at a social club in Consett, despite all the ridiculous rumours about Netflix being there etc.

The takeover question aside, for which the answer could have been written before it was answered, the night was very much a repeat of all of the podcasts that we've all heard. The only exception was the Jack Ross position in light of the previous weekends result at Bolton.

As I've said previously, the answer to the takeover question gave nothing away and I took the response positively. Shame on the person who took the better than 50/50 chance comment in a negative way and couldn't get it out quick enough.

Think about it logically, the club have been very open on almost everything since Donald and Methven arrived. All of a sudden, they've gone deathly quiet. Why? This will be due to NDA's and the legalities of the deal. If they could say something they would.

It'll happen, just be patient. I'm not ITK but that's my gut feeling from what I picked up on Friday night.

Yeah between them, Donald and Methven own 80% of the shares and a compulsory purchase can only be triggered at 90%.

GOM over there has cleared it up a bit. They can't force Sartori to sell his shares in Madrox. However, the club is Sunderland limited, which Madrox owns. If the Americans wish (which they probably do) they can just buy Sunderland limited (which would then be owned by FPP rather than Madrox). They can agree to sell a business linked to Madrox just on the strength of the shares held by Donald and Methven. So it's unlikely Sartori can cause a major issue

Yet according to the Trolls all of these things are easy to guess <laugh>

I'll add to your list later today.

After seeing first hand proof, and enduring weeks of relentless attacks, I offered all the Jardines to meet face to face so they could call me a liar to my face and I could prove them wrong. I've only shown two people, one of whom was Grumpy, the invitation for lunch at Oakhurst House the home of millionaire art dealer Ben Brown. There are more messages addressed to myself and Mrs Smug, first name terms, with mentions of people at the heart of this takeover.

I then offered the Trolls, many of whom keep posting that the deal is off, a £1000 charity bet.

I offered one Troll a similar charity bet if the flights I'd posted were proved incorrect.

Surprise surprise, not one of them took up either challenge ...

... and, as soon as the deadline for the bets had passed started again with the accusations of lying and relentless trolling.

That's sad enough, for grown men, but when one of the Mods is one of them it becomes something else entirely tbh.

I haven't lied once. As I've stated I've had to change locations/positions/occupations, to protect people, but those details are irrelevant in any case. And, of course I've 'jazzed' a few things up to keep things entertaining and light hearted. You can see how the other forum has become now, 90% bile and people endlessly shouting at each other. People need to remember these forums are supposed to be for people to chat and have a laugh with each other.
Smug, I really don’t know why you’re wasting your own time and effort explaining yourself to these WUM.It’s pretty obvious by the information you have supplied that you know someone connected

Totally agree with everything you’ve said. It will happen,I’ve been told “it’s days away not weeks”, but I was originally told the 16/9 but that turned out to be the meetings in London. I’m hoping Smug knows sumit?

Stick me down for a postal vote as well

Looks like Steve3000 got banned, hes complaining about it on RTG.

Mods are really efficient here and I like that he tried to derail that thread on many occasions over there. Good job :emoticon-0148-yes:

Good, he abuses other posters but is the first person to go running when someone says something about him.

100% this. Countless times I've gone to reply to a post and deleted it or closed the tab altogether and just thought 'forget it, I don't need the hassle". I've lurked for years but not posted that much. I once got torn to shreds for suggesting Moyes was a knacker for signing NDong over M'Vila.

This place seems much more chilled. You can have an actual conversation and share opinions here. Crazy. :emoticon-0100-smile

You cant say that on here mate, I'm still in therapy.

Anyone with half a brain could see Mvilla was the better option and he wanted to come here...

Shame Moyes didn't even have that so we broke our transfer record on Ndong
