I used to absolutely love RTG ...
... Sunderland daft, great crack and interesting threads.

As you say it's now descended to word for word Monty Python dialogue to keep it alive.

I feel sorry for the decent lads tbh, some great people on there who deserve better.

It absolutely needs to happen - we need to be promoted next May.

At the end of this season the parachute payments run out and a **** load of players contracts run out.
We need a massive squad rebuilding whichever league we're in, it doesn't bear thinking about doing that rebuilding in this division with no TV money and relying only on gate money to sign a new team.

Someone has just posted over the road about the hold up being something to do with land and the hotel being owned by Short and Sarori’s involvement......negotiating a price for his shares apparently

The Mods are suddenly on there day and night trying to manage things and control the Wums.

Another post just says,

'The takeover is off'.

No context, source or explanation ...
... but, of course, I'm the biggest Wum around <doh>

Totally agree with this,I wasn't aware of this board despite always looking for any snippets of news about all things safc on the Internet.
Defenatly makes a refreshing change not having to waste your time looking through arguments and wind ups all the time.

That’s been mentioned loads of times before. The negotiation to buy the club wouldn’t hinge on that I don’t think because the negotiation with Short would be a separate matter.

Think the Sartori thing is a red herring too. He only paid £3 mill for his shares if I remember rightly and that would have valued the club at £15 million as he took a 20% stake. If they’re selling the club for £40-50 million then he’ll make a massive profit. All of that is just my opinion like.

Agreed. As far as I know all Short owns is the hotel, not lots of land around it. He might be reluctant to sell (if we improve and/ or if any regeneration takes place around the stadium the value would increase) but I seriously doubt it would be a deal breaker and they could certainly complete the purchase of the club first then deal with Short over the hotel.

As for Sartori I don't think he can negotiate. I mentioned it over the road and might be proved wrong but I thought that Donald as the vast majority shareholder, was the one who made the decision and Sartori would have to sell for whatever Donald did. I don't think he's able to say "no, I want twice that for my shares". And tbh he's rich enough and disinterested enough that I doubt he'd want to kick up a fuss, probably just happy to make a slight profit and get out of it all together

I was thinking that, but surely he'd have spoken to them before going to it? And equally he didn't really say anything that I'd imagine would get their backs up, it was a pretty bog standard "it's progressing, we'll tell you more when we can" type comment. Fingers crossed it's not caused any issues!
