It's a matter for you, Gambol. I don't buy the gist of the article, but I don't agree that your average Jock is any "fairer" than your average Nige. I find that tone very patronising and condescending and is basic nationalism for the lower IQ's.
As the UK, we have very big decisions to make as a nation in the coming years. As the populace gets older, the pensions burden will be greater, as will healthcare and the likes. I know how we can pay for such privileges but I don't think that the SNP do. (BTW Westmisnter doesn't either). I long for a political party of principle, who isn't afraid to come out and make people take their medicine. The UK effectively went Bankrupt in the 60's. For all the talk of austerity, we're still racking up debt (soon to be 90% GDP) As a UK, we have huge liabilities, the PPP hospitals/schools etc, aren't even counted on the nations balance sheet and they're worth bazzilions, let alone the interest payments on the nations debt is worth something like £50bn a year FFS.
Salmonds plan is to borrow even more, to make Scotland 'fairer'. Now most Credit agencies have all came out and said that Scotland, although getting a AAA rating (if they take their share of Westminster debt), would face higher interest charges meaning that Scotland would face higher repayments on their borrowings and their existing debt legacy from UK.
It's a toughie, but the UK has been good to the nations which make up the State, though I'm sure some will disagree but I've not made my mind up yet. I feel drawn to voting Yes as my dad is a nationalist and he's always drummed it into me as a kid between beatings and rapes, but my head is saying "it's a big risk"....
