Aye we have lovely buildings and natural beauty. Much to admire in that.

Starving pensioners and the one of the highest infant mortality rates in Europe not so much.
I think you'll find that we have some of the most well kept pensioners in the world and I would argue, they are (mostly) too well looked after with the "triple lock" pension and many pensioners sitting in houses worth hundreds of thousands of pounds that they bought for pennies.

As for the infant mortality rate, don't really get the point. We are mid ranking in EU terms, and most countries are very close together (EU rate is 4 per 1000 and UK is 4.3 per 1000).
