Regarding the syphilitic ramblings of Sash William. I am not a wealth hater Sash. In fact part of the reason I am voting Yes is to keep our wealth in Scotland instead of sending down south to be pissed up against a wall.

 

That's what makes me laugh (well, not really). People like Bazza trumpeting on about "the debt, THE DEBT Tarquin" without even realising he's defeating his own argument about staying in the UK. It's not Scotland's fault the debt is so high. It's Westminster. Vote Yes and get them to **** once and for all.

The debt... is so big big because of Labour's ruinous economics, the Tories do what the Tories always do, get in and unwind the pish that Labour left them with, cutting back on benefits etc....

Whether in Scotchland or Nigeland, the debt is too big... But Salmond is vowing to unwind Tory 'austerity' (if you can even call it that) and embark on the same as before policies that led the UK to becoming the most indebted nation on Earth (public and private debt), all whilst increasing pensions, increasing benefits, giving people £5k of childcare AND cutting taxes.... Now I'm no rocket surgeon but that does not compute...

So, the UK has a manageble debt if you consider it a political decsision, but the UK is also afforded a certain degree of flexibility by the markets due to its size and its track record and the fact that it is seen to be reining in public spending which is why we are in the debt mire that we are in... but if the newly independent Scotland is not seen to be paying down its debt then it will face higher interest charges, which it will be facing anyway as a newly independent state, unfortunately.

But economics? Who even cares about that, eh?

We can't be forced to take responsibility for debt which is essentially UK debt. The fact that we are willing to pay our share should at least bring some sort of guarantee that the assets of the UK will be shared fairly.
