He loved Pardew - even compared him to Jose <laugh>

Carver - now that is a different matter. To be fair being told Haidara and Dummett are ahead of you will piss most people off. Definite face saving however, but the reason is probably his missus will want to be back in the north east I would imagine.

I reckon its a decent signing. Has a long term knee issue but he still managed a good number of games for us. He was a bit of a pussy and not the best defender at times but offers loads going forward IMO. I think he'd offer more if played on the right (though he always said he preferred left). He was certainly better than what we had on the left when he departed! Always seemed a nice lad, and didn't have the billy big bollocks attitude most footballers have.

I'm wondering whether we are the worst team when it comes to getting transfers over the line. Do other teams have this much trouble and the fact I obviously focus on Sunderland means that it gives me the false impression that this is the case?
 
I reckon his bird being from any NE postcode didn't want him in Sunderland. Tell you what, I bet he's at Boro next week..

Transfers break down all the time. No SAFC conspiracy on this one me thinks.
 
It could be a blessing in disguise. Remember the last defender we had who had Anton as his first name?
