Tancredi's credibility just took a bit of a dive there. He hears a significant bid has been made for any player and he just assumes it's been made by us <laugh>

Senegal international striker Moussa Konate is targeting a move to England or France amid claims he could be joining Southampton.
Konate, who played a starring role in his country's run to the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games in London, said he was keen on a move to the Premier League in August but eventually opted for Russian club FC Krasnodar.
However, the 19-year-old hitman has struggled to settle in southern Russia and is now believed to be back on the wanted lists of several clubs on either side of the English channel.
He told Le Sport: "I have not settled in Russia and would welcome an opportunity to play in England or France."
Ligue 1 trio Bordeaux, Sochaux and Rennes are interested but Konate's representatives are waiting for Saints' interest to firm up - while there could also be late moves from some of their Premier League rivals.
Stoke City, who have signed several Senegal players under Tony Pulis, are believed to be keen while Norwich have been scouring the market for a forward in the last week.
West Brom are also a possible rival as they look to replace Peter Odemwingie who is the subject of strong interest from QPR.

According to BBC Sport Jack Butland is refusing to talk to Chelsea despite them agreeing a fee of £3.5M with Birmingham. It is muted he is keen to play first team football. Could we give him that at Southampton?

Now we've got boruc back to his excellent best and gazza for the future I don't see why we'd need butland. Plus he'll only move for regular football

no, why do that when after 5 months we finally seem to have a settled keeper. Dont need to go chopping it around again. Boruc is quality, he was rusty yes but to be expected after a while without a game. Lets run with him and show faith in him like the rest of the defence seem to have.

Fair enough, I tend to agree but as the transfer rumours have ground to a halt and Butland is a player we were in for in the summer, I thought it worth canvassing opinion.

He'd probably see more opportunities for first-team football here than at Chelsea. If Boruc leaves when his contract ends in the summer then Butland could feasibly be first-choice at that point.

Moussa Konaté one sounds like rubbish, though I remember him being quite good at the Olympics...

At least it's a rumour. Can't realistically see anything happening now. MP will be focussed on tonight's game which only leaves tomorrow.

I'd sign him. Boruc will need to be kept on his toes and Gazza is the future, but is Butland a better future?

There is still hope.
However i fear if we do not strengthen wide or up top we are going to seriously struggle to stay up.
We have done well to get our noses in front of our chasing pack, but they are all getting reinforcements and have us in their sights.

If Lambo or Punch get injured for any major length of time from here on in we are as good as down, thats how thin on quality cover i think we are.

But like i say there is still hope.

I wouldn't go so far as that we're "as good as down" but yes, I agree it will be more of a struggle than necessary without Rickie for instance. However, I still think we'll pull out a surprise tomorrow.

I didn't necessarily think we would sign anyone. But I thought we'd be linked with loads of players this week, just to keep it interesting.
