Zambia will be eliminated from the ACON tonight, so it may be that Mayuka comes back and fills in down the left with Adam and Guly out for a bit longer. until we have more options cant help but feel a loans a bad idea - with some (semi)regular football under his belt he may be better than we've seen so far, strikes me as a confidence player. until those two come back anyway we'll need him!

They won't be eliminated if they win.

May be different under Poch, but we haven't been huge fans of loaning out for experience. We seem to do loans only when your Saints career has finished.

Indeed, which is a shame as there are a few players I feel would be better off getting regular football and being loaned out, but it either seems to be our less-coveted youngsters who get loaned out or older players who are no longer of any use but aren't being sold yet. Personally I'd ideally like to see Ward-Prowse and Mayuka loaned out, might dent our depth a touch, but if we're meant to be looking to the future and trying to improve, I think those players are better off getting football and experience elsewhere rather than sitting on the bench and it'd pay dividends in the long run.

He's played one full game, and about 5 minutes in another. And he didn't dive.

Mayuka's just been given his second yellow of the tournament for diving - still havent seen the incident for the penalty so I'll take your word for it on that one but he's clearly not the most honest (for lack of a better word) of players.

i really can't stand diving, for me it's even worse watching your own players do it, hence me labouring the point

Loans are not as easy and usually don't work out as well as the average fan thinks.

Every time there is a rumor of someone coming to Saints on loan the majority of people here are against it. They are not better than what we have, we'd rather give our own prospects a chance, better to sign someone you can keep rather than lose a player after half a season, etc. Iago Falque was a promising prospect and he and Tottenham were probably somewhat excited that he could go on loan to Saints and get some first team experience. It looked like a good fit. But in the end, he would have been better off staying at Tottenham.

But somehow when it comes to our players we think every Championship side will be happy to take them and they will walk into the side and get valuable first team experience while lighting the league on fire.

Would rather we kept hold of Fox for now, not really good enough but can still cover LB/LM, help close out games etc.
Unless of course we sign someone in the next couple of days.

I thought he'd use the Acon to show case his talents, but all he seems to have done is dived twice & won one penalty & got one yellow card. Not that impressed, & I'm certainly not expecting him to come back & set the world on fire.

To be honest I haven't watched it. He didn't get a lot of game time under NA, probably the reason for that he's not been doing it in training?? But you never know, he's obviously a good player and a new manager might just invigorate him.
