OK so now what do we do for the next 3 days 8 hours!

 

Pochettino on Coutinho: "I am not too disappointed or upset not to get him. I knew there was a small chance to sign him."

 

Do we reckon that is game over for this window then? Slightly disappointing if true.

 

Oh well Forren had better be worth nearly 4500 posts!

 

Journos at the presser think so. Say Mauricio reiterated that he is now very happy with the squad we have.

 

We were in for him then. In that case I would still be surprised if we didn't move for someone else. Stop toying with my emotions!

 

I think our first 11 is good, but its the bench that causes me to worry. In recent weeks its looked very weak, & I don't want to see De Ridder or Chung there if I'm honest.

 

Slightly worried if he thinks are squad is strong enough to last until May. A couple of injuries and would be in deep trouble.

 

I feel similarly, although I do wonder if Cortese is just being cautious right now.

Lets think - our First XI and bench (IMO)

Starting: Boruc; Clyne, Fonte, Forren, Shaw; Cork, Schneiderlin; Puncheon, Gaston, Lallana; Lambert.

Bench: K. Davis, Fox, Yoshida, S. Davis, Ward-Prowse, do Prado, Rodriguez.


That still leaves you with Gazzaniga/Richardson/Hooiveld/Chaplow/De Ridder/Chung/Mayuka outside the matchday squad.

 

Pochettino: "After working with the players, I think they are talented and skilful. It's not a priority for us to sign anyone."

 

With Adam back we have a good 12/13 but could do with another striker on the bench.

 

Perhaps MP sees a chance to blood some of the youngsters ?

Not saying it's a good idea ( at this stage of the season ) , but perhaps the way he is thinking ?

 

I suppose everyone below the top 6 (and above 20th) could say they need more depth, it's a PL fact of life, particularly for promoted teams. We've got the 4th centre back and Boruc seems to have secured the jersey for now so that's the most important things sorted. Another attacking player would be great if the deal is there, if not I can hold on until Summer.

 

Cry and bemoan the false hope of the last 220 pages. There's probably room to blame Guly for this outrage somewhere too.

 

Well that's a wee bit boring. Wouldn't be surprised if we pulled out a shock one on deadline day.

 

Provided we stay up, I imagine Pochettino will have somewhat of a clear-out in the summer.

Clears space for new players and increases depth over time.

 

Maybe Jasper is right and he's seen enough from JWP, Reeves etc not to bring anyone else in.

 

If pochettino is being honest I think we have failed in this transfer window. Think Forren will be excellent and was a major piece we needed, still not enough, arguably needed another 2 maybe 3.

I'm still hoping in my heart of hearts that pochettino has put up a little smoke screen, he has admitted he was in for coutinho so he obviously thinks we could strengthen there so why stop looking, plenty of good wingers out there...also have to remember players are always more expensive in January and if he was to say in his last interview before deadline day "oh yes we are desperate for a couple" other teams will pick up on this and bump a probably already inflated asking price! He is being clever me thinks!

 

Come on he said the same thing when he first arrived. The only difference is now we know he was lying because he admits trying to sign Coutinho.

He's just covering himself in case we don't sign anyone, but I bet we're still trying.
